ISP Technologies announces Decimator X noise reduction pedals

May 31, 2024 · 1 sources

ISP Technologies announced the Decimator X and the Decimator X G String on May 31, 2024, describing them as adaptive noise reduction pedals. The company says the design is covered by US Patent 11,641,183, with foreign patents pending1.

The maker says the pedals center on a circuit it calls the Integration Release Window, which it describes as an adaptive release system. According to ISP, fixed-release noise gates and downward expanders force a tradeoff: a fast release suits staccato notes but produces "breathing" after each note, while a slow release suits sustained notes but a fast setting causes modulation as notes decay. The Integration Release Window is said to hold a slow release until a note's decay passes a set decibel threshold, so the release tracks only the negative peaks of the decaying audio envelope and adapts as the signal falls1.

"This innovation allows for a quick response to staccato notes while eliminating choppy modulation with slow-decaying notes."

ISP says the patent covers the unique aspects of the Integration Release Window and that pending foreign patents reflect the technology's global significance1. The announcement does not give prices, availability dates, control layouts or other specifications for either pedal.
