Jackson Audio has unveiled the Hour Glass Dual Studio Compressor, a compressor pedal built around two independent OTA analog circuits and inspired by classic OTA units from Ross, MusicRadar reported on October 6, 2023.

The pedal carries two identical compression circuits, each with its own footswitch and its own set of controls. Jackson Audio lists Level, Sustain and Blend for each side, and says the clean blend "allows you to use stronger compression for sustain while restoring the natural attack and dynamics of the original guitar signal"¹. MusicRadar reports Compression, Blend and Volume controls for each channel².

Each circuit has a three-way attack switch, with fast, medium and slow settings that MusicRadar gives as 100ms, 400ms and 1600ms². Jackson Audio describes fast as responding quickly to peaks, medium as balancing pick definition with smooth compression, and slow as letting more of the initial note through¹. Each side also has a three-way treble switch with Flat, Medium and High settings¹².

Jackson Audio describes the pedal's three uses as switching between two settings, matching different guitars, and stacking both circuits. The maker suggests setting one side for single coils and the other for humbuckers¹.

MusicRadar reports the jacks are mounted on the top of the pedal and describes the enclosure as compact². The pedal is out now at $299². Jackson Audio's product page lists a shipping lead time of 3 to 4 weeks for orders placed at the time¹.
