JHS Pedals and Madison Cunningham have collaborated on a signature vibrato pedal, the Artificial Blonde, released on October 21, 202212. It is priced at $24912.
The Artificial Blonde is a true pitch vibrato pedal that evolved out of the JHS Emperor Chorus/Vibrato1. Premier Guitar describes it as a new take on that design2. It presents two channels of pitch vibrato, and its two footswitches turn the effect on and off and toggle between Vibrato A and Vibrato B1. Each side has its own Speed and Depth controls, and the shared global controls are a Volume knob and an EQ that works as an active tilt control, where noon is flat, clockwise boosts highs and cuts lows, and the opposite applies counter-clockwise1. Premier Guitar lists two independent switchable speed/depth sections and a shared volume/EQ section2.
The pedal can run in mono or stereo, takes a 9V DC pedalboard power supply and has a buffered bypass1. Premier Guitar calls it JHS's first stereo pedal, with stereo L/R outputs2.
According to MusicRadar, the design came about when JHS founder Josh Scott was tech'ing for Cunningham and noticed she always had the Emperor on and was always switching between a subtle and a not-so-subtle sound1. A prototype was made and road-tested before the final pedal1.
"Simply put, this is Madison Cunningham in a box," says JHS. "Just add a clean Fender-style amp and tune your guitar strings down!"
