Keeley Electronics and Andy Timmons released the Super AT Mod Overdrive, a limited-edition overdrive pedal, in May 2023. It is the second pedal from the pair, following the Halo Dual Echo123.
The pedal is based on the Keeley Blues Driver circuit Phat Mod, which itself began as a mod Robert Keeley performed on Blues Driver pedals23. It uses asymmetrical JFET transistor clipping in place of tubes, which Keeley describes as giving a tone much like a Californian tube amp in a box2. The Super AT Mod has a three-knob layout with Level, Tone and Drive, and a toggle switch that selects between Phat mode and a new AT mode24. The AT mode is voiced for humbuckers and cuts some low-mid and bass frequencies for what the maker calls a "tighter more transparent response"; Phat mode keeps the original circuit's extra low end for single-coils123. The pedal is true bypass, handmade in Edmond, USA, runs on 9V DC from a pedalboard power supply and draws around 20 mA2.
Reported prices differ. Guitar World gave around $2491; Guitar Pedal X listed $1994; Gearnews listed a price of $215.005. MusicRadar reported a run limited to 1,000 units worldwide, available to order at the time of its report2.
