Keeley Electronics released a limited pre-release edition of its Keeley Tube Drive on Friday, August 7, and the run of 100 sold out the same day12. Guitar Pedal X reported the limited 100 pre-release run "sold out very quickly on the day of release"1; Delicious Audio said it "was available for pre-sale on the builder's site, but sold out within minutes"2. Gearnews called it "a blink and you'll miss it online exclusive"3.
The pedal is a dual overdrive with a tube stage on the left and Keeley's Super Phat Mod circuit on the right12. Each side has Level, Gain and Tone controls, and a foot gesture switches the order so the tube feeds the drive or the drive feeds the tube132. The pre-release units carried a genuine 1950s Sylvania 12AT7WA tube, burned-in and fully tested, in a brushed gold gloss finish, built in Oklahoma City with numbered faceplates132. Delicious Audio describes the tube stage as dual triodes running in series in Class A into a tweed-style tone stack2. Gearnews lists true bypass or Keeley silent buffered switching and a remote switch jack on the back, with tip and ring assigned to Drive and Tube32. Power is 9V DC center-negative at 500mA132.
The price is given as $500 by Guitar Pedal X1 and $499 by Gearnews3.
"The actual general release takes place on September 1st - where there will be at least 2 editions, a Gold Dealer Edition sporting a 12AT7WC Tube, and a Standard / Stock Edition seemingly sporting the more standard 12AX7 Tube."
Guitar Pedal X also noted the limited release has a black "K" tube shield where the dealer edition has it in gold1.
