KMA Machines announced the Queequeg 2 Subgenerator on April 7, 2022, an update to its analog sub-octave pedal that adds a second sub-octave below the original signal12. The original Queequeg was released in 20163.
The Queequeg 2 is a monophonic analog octaver offering one octave down, two octaves down, or both together23. A three-way mini-toggle below the Mix knob selects between the first octave (-I), the second (-II) or both mixed (-I/-II)3. A single Mix knob sets the blend between the dry signal and the generated octaves; turned fully up, the pedal gives only the sub-octave effect with no dry signal2. A multi-colored LED changes color to show which mode is active13.
The updated pedal has a more compact enclosure with top-mounted jacks and relay-based soft switching23. KMA says its custom all-analog circuit provides fast tracking on guitar, bass and synth, with one note at a time3. MusicRadar reports the pedal is handmade in Germany and runs on a standard 9-volt, center-negative power supply1. Delicious Audio lists an optional 9V DC PSU with a 2.1mm negative-center connector and current draw above 60mA3.
No US list price was given in either.
Gearnews described the pedal's simplicity as potentially limiting for some players, while saying it liked the overall tone and found the tracking appeared to be pretty good2.
