Electronic Audio Experiments documents Limelight V2 overdrive

Electronic Audio Experiments has documented a Version 2 of its Limelight overdrive, the maker's changelog showing a new mechanical form factor rotated to portrait orientation, "various improvements to the circuit including noise reduction and refined bypass switching functionality"1. Delicious Audio reported the V2 on July 13, 20222.
The Limelight is a dual channel overdrive developed with the LA-based punk band Touché Amoré, built around the tones of guitarists Nick Steinhardt and Clayton Stevens1. The maker says it was originally developed to commemorate the band's 2020 LP, Lament1. It pairs a drive circuit with an independent front-end boost, each on its own footswitch: the left engages the drive, the right the boost1. Delicious Audio describes the circuit as starting from a vaguely Blues Breaker-inspired design with a series of mods for articulation and gain range2.
"While loosely based in the “breaker” lineage, we made significant changes to the circuit for superior articulation and a much wider range of gain."
Controls are Boost, Gain, Tone, Volume and Focus1. The maker rates Boost from 0dB to +21dB of clean gain, Gain at approximately 50dB at maximum with a natural midrange boost as it turns clockwise, and Tone as an adjustable low pass filter1. Focus is a variable low cut in the drive section that adjusts chime and midrange presence1. Delicious Audio describes Focus as a toggle2; the maker's control list does not specify its form.
| Spec | Maker's figure |
|---|---|
| Bypass | Relay-based true bypass, defaults to bypass on power loss |
| Input impedance @ 1kHz | 500kΩ (boost/drive) |
| Output impedance @ 1kHz | 1kΩ (boost), <5kΩ (drive) |
| Power | 9VDC, 2.1mm center negative barrel |
| Current draw | 80mA with both channels engaged |
The maker recommends a regulated, isolated supply rated for 100mA and states the pedal does not accept a battery1. The Limelight is listed at $249.001.
