Madbean Pedals releases 2024 Batwing24 filter PCB with new layout

November 20, 2024 · 1 sources

Madbean published documentation for the 2024 Batwing24 on November 20, 2024. The maker states the circuit is essentially unchanged from the earlier version and that the board has been laid out again.

"The 2024 version of the Batwing has no significant circuit changes and a brand new PCB layout. This version no longer requires 9mm pots."

The project is listed as a filter, rated at intermediate build level, and described as based on the Maestro Filter, Sample & Hold. The maker says the Batwing keeps the entire envelope section of the FSH and takes its filter direction mod from the older Tonepad project, with four changes: the OTA input buffer replaced by a JFET, a dual-gang 1MB pot in place of a single 2MB pot for the REZ control, an increased Decay range, and an added volume control1.

Controls are SENSE, for the sensitivity of the envelope follower driving the swept filter; REZ, for the resonance peak; ATTACK, slow counterclockwise to fast clockwise; DECAY, very short counterclockwise to extremely long clockwise; VOL, the effect output level, which the maker describes as basically unity; and UP/DN, which sets the sweep direction1.

The board uses two J201s, a 2n3906, an LM13700, an LM1458 and a TC1044SCPA, and fits a 125B enclosure. The maker lists current draw at about 11mA and says the board is compatible with the SSBP and SSABP bypass boards sold at madbeanpedals1. No price or availability date is given in the document.
