Matthews Effects releases The Traveler reverb pedal with MIDI

April 11, 2023 · 3 sources

Matthews Effects The Traveler is a three-mode digital, compact reverb pedal, described by Delicious Audio on April 11, 2023 as having full MIDI compatibility over 3.5mm TRS, six presets via MIDI, and a momentary Hold function¹. The maker lists the same features on its product page²³.

The pedal has three knobs: Mix, Feedback and a mode-variable "M" knob in the center¹. The maker says the Mix knob blends the wet signal, the M knob controls a different feature on each algorithm, and the Feedback knob controls reverb length²³. The three algorithms are Mod, Shimmer and Vintage²³. Delicious Audio describes Mod as reverb with modulation inspired by the company's Cosmonaut pedal, with the M knob setting modulation amount; Shimmer as reverb with octave-up voiced after the Astronomer, with the M knob setting the amount of pitch-shifted signal; and Vintage as a new spring reverb algorithm inspired by vintage Fender amps, with the M knob darkening the sound through a lowpass filter¹.

Holding the Bypass/Hold switch activates the Hold function, which jumps the feedback control to its maximum setting and returns it to its previous position when the switch is released, according to the maker²³. The maker also states that MIDI allows remote control of presets, algorithms and features, and that there are six preset slots²³.

Delicious Audio gives the price as $129¹. The maker's page shows the pedal as sold out²³.
