The Mattoverse FloraVolt is now available to order at $149, Guitar World reported on January 9, 20231. Guitar.com reported the same price2. Guitar World noted that Mattoverse had teased the pedal in December 2022, when images of an earlier build appeared on Instagram1.

The pedal is an overdrive and distortion circuit that uses produce as its power source, on the principle of the classroom potato clock1. A piece of fruit or vegetable is pressed onto two prongs on top of the pedal; a drip plate below the prongs is intended to keep juice out of the enclosure1. Mattoverse recommends apples, bananas, potatoes and citrus fruits such as oranges, lemons and limes, and says it cannot guarantee results with every variety, so some trial and error is expected1.

Mattoverse describes the pedal as capable of "everything from starved distorted tones to mild overdrive and low gain crunch"21. Both outlets reported that the voltage limitation of most fruit and vegetables leaves maximum volume close to, or just slightly over, unity gain21. Controls are a side-mounted gain knob and a bass roll-off switch, and Guitar World reported true bypass switching21.

"Spend the day ripping sick riffs thanks to that old banana you weren't going to eat anyway"
Mattoverse, quoted in Guitar.com2

Guitar.com compared the pedal to the Rainger FX Minibar Liquid Analyser, which alters its distortion based on the liquid inside it2.
