Meris announced the Enzo X on February 19, an expanded version of its Enzo synth pedal that the company describes as "the highest quality and most flexible polyphonic synthesizer ever created in a pedal format"12. It is priced at $599 in the US132. MusicRadar reported the pedal ships from March1; Guitar.com reported the first batch is expected to ship in early March4.

The pedal offers five synth modes: Poly Synth, Mono Synth, Dry Poly, Dry Mono and Arp Synth5. It has six polyphonic voices that can run simultaneously, and polyphonic pitch detection that requires no special pickup15. Each voice contains two oscillators, a filter, a filter envelope and an amp envelope, with saw, triangle and square waveforms selectable per oscillator and cross modulation53. Filter types are Ladder, State-Variable and Twin, with lowpass, bandpass and highpass topology, plus a white noise generator5. ADSR envelopes are provided for both amplitude and filter15.

Onboard effects include five modulation types (chorus, flanger, phaser, vibrato and ring mod), five drives (volume pedal, tube, op amp, transistor and bitcrush), three reverbs taken from the Mercury X's Prism algorithm, and a stereo delay with up to 2.5 seconds of delay time154. There are 99 presets in 33 banks and a favorites bank holding three presets15. The pedal has stereo inputs and outputs, MIDI In and Out on five-pin DIN jacks, an expression pedal input, a Hold Modifier switch and a USB-C port for firmware updates542. It can be played from a MIDI keyboard as well as an instrument input15.

Inside are an Analog Devices JFET input section, an all-analog signal path and 24-bit AD/DA conversion with 32-bit floating point DSP15. It measures 184 x 114 x 51 mm and draws about 280 mA from a standard 9V supply, which is not included5. It is designed and built in California15.

"With Enzo X, we released a fully polyphonic monster that you can trigger with any instrument."

Accounts differ on the enclosure. Guitar.com described the pedal as packing its features into a smaller enclosure4, while Guitar Pedal X called it a large enclosure workstation format5.
