Delicious Audio reported the Mu-Tron Bi-Phase II as new at NAMM in a post dated January 28, 20241. The pedal is an analog phaser that simulates the sound of the Musitronics Bi-Phase, which the outlet describes as a legendary phase effect from the 1970s1.
Mu-Tron describes the original as a dual phase-shifter invented and marketed by Musictronics USA in the 70s2. The company says the Bi-Phase II is all analog and packs into a compact, pedal board friendly package, with signal routed from right to left for easier patching2. It runs on standard 9V or 12V DC power, draws 260 mA, weighs 1 lb and measures 4.75 by 2.5 by 7.25 inches2. Mu-Tron lists true-bypass footswitching for each phase channel, internal plus and minus 15 volt operation, and a one-year limited warranty, made in the US2.
The new features are OptoMod Phase-Light technology and a 4-stage mode with fixed feedback2. Delicious Audio describes the OptoMod technology as using LEDs to indicate phase modulation, and the 4-stage modes as offering different feedback levels for various rock tones1. Controls include Feedback, Rate, Depth, Shape for square or sine wave, and a Stage switch for 4 or 6 stages2. A control voltage input allows real-time control of Rate or Depth, and a control voltage output lets two or more units be linked2. Delicious Audio describes the CV input as allowing adjustment of Rate or Depth with an external controller1.
