Neural DSP releases CorOS 4.1.0 firmware for both Quad Cortex models

Neural DSP released CorOS 4.1.0, a free firmware update for both Quad Cortex models, in late August 20261. The company says it is its most significant overhaul yet1.
The update introduces Device Presets, which let players recall specific effects settings across presets. Every device, including reverb, delay and compressor, now comes with factory presets and space to create and save custom ones1. Dual Footswitch Assignments in Stomp mode give the four switches a second function beyond bypass; a player can, for example, engage a reverb with one footswitch and a freeze sustain on that reverb with another1.
CorOS 4.1.0 also brings full compatibility with Neural DSP's X plugins, including the Archetype John Mayer, Tim Henson, Misha Mansoor and Rabea Massaad plugins. Their amps, cabs and effects are available on the hardware to users who purchase the software1. Eight new standard devices are included free for guitar and bass: Multivoicer harmonizer, Glitch granular delay, Ring Modulator, Arpeggio Delay, Crystal Delay, Vintage Digital Reverb, Douglas Shining Comp (based on the Hyper Luminal compressor by Darkglass Electronics) and Plugin Parametric-4 EQ1.
Guitar World's review of the Quad Cortex mini lists the following specifications for that model1:

| Type | Amp modeler, multi-effects and Capture device |
| Controls | 7" touchscreen, four footswitches |

The reviewer wrote that the plugin additions widen the pedal's tonal range but require separate purchase on top of the hardware price1.
"the UI represents something of a barrier to entry, and any prospective owner should be prepared to learn, memorize and practice a series of switch shortcuts, commands and functions."
