The Nux Trident NME-5 surfaced at NAMM 2023, MusicRadar reported, and Guitar World described it as "a robust-looking piece of kit that promises to be an entire guitar rig in one unit"¹².

The unit is built on a one-piece die-cast aluminum chassis and runs Nux's updated TSAC-4K amp modeling algorithm, which the company says is twice as complex as previous versions and works alongside analog circuits to achieve "a clear sound with low noise levels"². It carries 27 amp models, each with High and Low inputs, four inputs for patch cable jumping and toggle switches for voicing, and 27 cab IRs with four microphone models at three positions; third-party IRs can be loaded through the Trident edit software². Two DSPs handle amps and effects separately, with reverb, delay and modulation on board². Amps are adjusted through Gain, Level, Bass, Middle, Treble and Presence controls beneath a small display². Footswitches trigger effects, recall amp models and engage a tuner, a Boost function and a 60-second phrase looper, and the USB-C output lets the unit work as an audio interface, alongside MIDI in and out and send and return jacks².

MusicRadar reported that the Trident builds on Nux's Cerberus by offering amp models like its MG30, but without the Cerberus's expression pedal, and that it places pedal-style control knobs on the unit itself, Boss GT-style, so there is less need to scroll through menus¹. The same report called the display "miserly and, dare we say, dated" next to larger multi-effects screens¹.

Guitar World reported the price as around the $450 mark and said an official release had not been confirmed². MusicRadar, writing in May 2023, also cited European preorder pricing, which is not comparable to the US figure¹.
