Pedalnetics releases Trident MIDI-controlled buffered splitter

Pedalnetics announced on May 13, 2026 that the Trident is live. The maker describes it as "One stereo in, three buffered outs, MIDI-controlled"1.
Each of the three buffered stereo outputs sits on its own latching mechanical relay, which the maker says gives clean, silent switching. The relays draw current only during the switch event itself, so the box runs cool, according to the maker1.
Control is by MIDI CC. Six CCs cover the individual outputs plus common pairings, with four actions per CC: mute, unmute, toggle and solo. The maker gives an example of the solo action: sending CC 2 with Value 3 mutes everything else and unmutes Output 2 in one message1.
MIDI is optional in use. The default boot mode leaves all three outputs unmuted, so the unit works out of the box as a buffered splitter. Boot behavior can be changed via CC 121 and is saved to non-volatile memory1.
