Pettyjohn Electronics announced a Bass Edition of its PreDrive3 preamp pedal for Summer 2026, the maker said on the product's page. The company describes it as long requested, with EQ and Harmonic Drive circuits optimized for the bass range.
The Bass Edition uses a special top with updated frequencies and cream knobs for the Low and High cut controls, according to the maker. It is selected as a voicing option at no extra cost. The standard PreDrive3 is listed from $499.00 and measures 4.72 x 3.7 x 2.22 inches.
The PreDrive3 is a preamp, boost and EQ pedal built around discrete opamp buffers and intended for first-in-chain use. It has a three-band semi-parametric EQ with an inductor mid band, a sweepable low cut from 20Hz to beyond 1kHz at 6dB/octave, and a passive high cut sweepable from 20K down to 1K. The Harmonic Drive toggle engages a germanium soft clipping circuit. A boost knob adds up to 20dB, and the buffer footswitch selects true bypass or buffer on, which includes the EQ section. The maker says a custom voltage boosting circuit takes 9-15v input and outputs +/-18v from a proprietary 36v internal supply. The pedal is hand made in Oregon, USA.

Two paid modifications are listed: a Deluxe EQ Mod at $100, which upgrades the EQ's Burr-Brown opamp to a second dual discrete opamp, and a Max Mojo Mod at $69, which upgrades the high pass filter with an Emerson oil-in-paper capacitor and the signal path to PRP resistors. The maker also lists a custom wood top option. Further details are on the bass pedals page.
