Rainger FX announced the Razor Fuzz on June 24, 2025, according to Guitar Pedal X1. The pedal combines a gated silicon transistor fuzz with a digital virtual plectrum effect that adds overtone artifacts, the report said1. Gearnews, which covered it on June 26, described it as "a fuzz pedal with what they describe as an original circuit with an intense, gated fuzz effect"2.

The fuzz side is an analog circuit with Volume and Tone controls and an Extra switch on the top of the unit that adds more gain, more hi-mids and less bass2. The digital plectrum section has its own Pick Volume control to balance how much of the plectrum sound comes through, and a Pitch control tied to the 1 Note mode2. The Tone control also affects the plectrum voices, while the Extra switch has no impact on them, Gearnews reported2. Guitar World reported that the pick-detection technology first appeared on Rainger's Break Box distortion, and that new versions of that pedal and the Pull Focus carry the same next-generation tech3.

The four modes are Sandpaper, Metal Short, Metal Long and 1 Note1. Guitar Pedal X described Sandpaper as adding scratchy ghost notes, the two Metal modes as adding random "Bleepy Bloopy ghost notes, occasionally sounding like ring tones," and 1 Note as adding a single pitched note whose frequency is adjusted with the Pitch knob1. Gearnews, citing Rainger FX's own descriptions, said Sandpaper adds a gritty, percussive punch, Metal delivers a sparkling pinched-harmonic effect, Metal Long creates a random ring modulator effect with single notes, and 1 Note adds a constant tunable note2. The pedal is true bypass and runs from an external 9V center negative supply drawing a minimum of 70mA2.

"The Razor Fuzz detects your real pick attack, and adds an extra one, hugely exaggerating the leading edge attack, and creating unique sounds."

Guitar Pedal X put the launch price at c.$239 for USA customers minus 20% VAT, and said units had already been sent to distribution and should be in stock at international dealers at launch1. Gearnews listed an MSRP of GBP 199 plus VAT2. Guitar World gave a UK price including VAT of approximately $3203. The enclosure is the same slightly fluted wedge shape as the Pull Focus1. Guitar Pedal X's reviewer called the Sandpaper and Metal Long modes "worth the admission price alone for me" and said he had "still to find a properly musical use for the '1 Note' Mode"1.
