Rainger FX releases Flanger X mini digital flanger with rocket sound

February 21, 2023 · 1 sources

Rainger FX released the Flanger X, a mini digital flanger, Delicious Audio reported on February 21, 2023. It is the third pedal in the builder's X series of mini digital pedals, following the Echo X and the Reverb X1.

The pedal is a digital flanger with true bypass, and it adds an internally created analog rocket launch sound that has its own volume knob and can be triggered to work with the flanger1. The main controls are Flange, for the amount of effect; Rate, which runs from stationary to fast; Rocket, from nothing to full blast; Vol; and FBK, for fast-repeat echo trails1. An Igor switch changes the Igor pad from speed ramp-up to momentary noise burst, and an Env switch changes the rocket sound from envelope-controlled to always-on1. The Igor pad is a pressure-sensitive controller; at one setting, leaning on it speeds the modulation to its fastest rate, and at the other it adds a rocket noise burst. It is dual sensitivity, and flips over for a hard or soft press1. A Peak LED shows when the digital input is overloading, which the maker says does no damage and happens when Rocket is on full1.

Rainger FX describes the rocket sound as "a full-frequency, three-dimensional analog rocket sound simulation, with the muffled pops and low roar of a heavy-lift vehicle launching," partly achieved at full Rocket setting by overloading the input to the digital flanger circuit1.

"The Flanger-X is a digital flanger, the latest in our 'X' series of mini-pedals."

Delicious Audio lists the features as massive flanging from a mini pedal, clean chorus-style shimmer, real-time adjustment of modulation speed, and a custom Rainger FX enclosure1. The report gave no price or availability details.
