REVV releases Northern Mauler Glenn Fricker signature distortion pedal
November 4, 2022 · 2 sources
REVV announced the Revv Northern Mauler on November 4, 2022. It is a signature distortion pedal for Glenn Fricker, the YouTuber behind Spectre Sound, and combines a chainsaw circuit inspired by the Boss HM-2 with a high-gain amp circuit12.
The pedal holds two complete circuits in one enclosure, mixed with a Blend knob that runs from 100 percent Amp circuit to 100 percent Chainsaw circuit; at noon the blend is an equal mix of both1. Volume and Giv'r, which REVV calls the gain control for both circuits, are global, while each circuit has its own controls: Bite (treble) and Growl (bass and mids) on the Chainsaw side, and a three-band Bass, Mids and Treble EQ on the Amp side12. Gearnews describes the two circuits as always connected in serial2. REVV states the Chainsaw circuit is not based on any specific HM-2 unit, and that the Amp circuit sits between its Red and Purple channels rather than copying either1.
"The Northern Mauler is a Glenn Fricker signature pedal combining Revv's trademark high gain tones with the unmistakable sound of melodic death metal & metallic hardcore."
