Ross Electronics returns under Cameron Ross with five Era 6 pedals

December 1, 2025 · 3 sources

ROSS Electronics is back under family control, with Cameron Ross, grandson of founder Charles "Bud" Ross, launching five Era 6 pedals12. The announcement follows the end of the JHS Pedals revival, which JHS pulled about a year after relaunching the brand in 20231.

The Era 6 line comprises a compressor, distortion, chorus, phaser and fuzz12. Cameron Ross said the pedals were rebuilt with "modern engineering" while staying true to the "warmth and character of the originals"2. The pedals keep their classic colors and simple aesthetics1; Cameron Ross confirmed in comments that "all colours will stay the same as the originals"2. The new units will be smaller to fit pedalboards, with "internal enhancements" and further features to be detailed on the upcoming website2.

No prices or release dates for the Era 6 pedals were given. A mailing list has been set up for news of the relaunch1, and email subscribers will get 10% off their first Era 6 preorder when the window opens2. The company says on its website: "Legends never die. They evolve. Ross pedals are officially back."1

The two reports differ on the sales figures for the JHS-era pedals. Guitar World reported 5,400 units sold by the end of 2023 and 334 sales between January and November 20241. Guitar.com reported 4,500 pedals sold in August 2023 and 333 units moved in all of 20242. JHS Pedals said at the time: "The Ross re-release did not go as planned. We loved it, the market did not."1 JHS founder Josh Scott later described the project as a "leech" on his time and energy2.

Bud Ross founded the company in the 1970s after finding success in the amplifier market with Kustom the previous decade1. He died on 10 March 20183. The JHS revival was announced in August 2023, with pedals made at JHS's Kansas, Missouri headquarters and priced at $1893.
