Shift Line released the A+ Astronaut V, the newest addition to its Astronaut space reverb family, news of which appeared on July 26, 202212. The reverb pedal carries a US list price of USD 2992.
The pedal is built around an ARM processor, Cortex technology and an Analog Devices codec, and it is a digital circuit1. It offers 22 stereo algorithms, which the maker lists as including reverbs, delays and microsampling, each with flexible controls12. The Astronaut V holds 33 presets that can be tweaked and saved to the device's memory12. Shift Line states that algorithms from earlier versions were reworked for the new processor1.
According to the maker, the pedal uses a dual mono processing architecture that it states preserves the incoming signal's stereo scene, with a VCA-based cross mix between dry and wet signals for a smooth transition to Kill Dry mode2. The dry signal path is fully analog and does not pass through AD/DA conversion, which the maker states gives zero latency2. A USB C port handles firmware updates and fine-tuning, and a universal external control input accepts MIDI, passive controllers, expression pedals and analog triggers2.
"The Astronaut V can do anything from traditional reverb sounds to complex soundscapes, effects and arpeggios."
Power requirements are 9V DC, center negative, at 200mA1. RockBoard lists the pedal's dimensions as 000.00 mm, so no size or weight figures are available1.
