Shift Line releases Prism II firmware 1.3.0
May 1, 2022 · 1 sources
The Shift Line Prism II firmware version 1.3.0 carries a date of 2022-05-01, according to the maker's support page. Shift Line states that the current firmware version (1.3) is installed on pedals manufactured after May 1, 2022, and that the latest firmware version to date is 1.3.0. Owners of pedals bought earlier are advised by the maker to update to the latest version on the page.
The update is installed by connecting the pedal to a computer over microUSB, then connecting the power supply; both LEDs glow blue when the pedal is ready. The user deletes the AFXSETUP folder from the PRISM 2 drive, copies the file p2update.bin to the drive's root folder without renaming it, ejects the drive, disconnects the power supply and then the USB cable, and reconnects the power supply. Shift Line says the update takes two minutes and that the power supply must not be disconnected until it finishes. The maker warns that an interrupted update can render the pedal unusable and that recovery would most likely require service by Shift Line. The installed version can be checked in line 3 of the PRISM2.SET file.
The Prism II is described by Shift Line as a "Complex filter-pad pedal with extensive sonic capabilities." Much of its configuration is edited in the PRISM2.SET text file rather than through the physical controls. Settings documented on the page include the BEAT switch subdivisions, patch switching between banks, the EXT.TAP input mode, MIDI channel, clock and program change settings, and the Favorite preset. The maker recommends setting the input gain to no higher than 2.0 to avoid clipping.
"The current firmware version (1.3) is installed on pedals manufactured after May 1, 2022."
The page also notes that updating the firmware may alter the pedal's sound settings, and that users actively working on a project may prefer to update once it is over. The Prism II appears in the site's filter pedals section.
