Soldano releases SLO Pedal based on SLO-100 amp

Soldano has released the SLO Pedal, a high-gain overdrive pedal based on its Super Lead Overdrive amplifier, the company said on its product page1. The pedal is listed as in stock at $199.991. MusicRadar and Guitar World both reported the pedal on November 1, 2022, and gave a different price: $229.99 in MusicRadar's report2 and $230 in Guitar World's3.
The pedal has six knobs: Gain, Volume, Presence and a three-band EQ, plus a side-mounted Deep switch13. Soldano describes the controls as follows1:
| Control | Function (per Soldano) |
|---|---|
| Volume | Controls the total output volume |
| Presence | Filters the output's high end |
| Gain | Adjusts the total amount of gain applied; clockwise increases it |
| EQ Section | Classic Soldano three-band EQ; clockwise increases the relative frequency range |
| Deep | Adjusts the overall output low-end punch |
Soldano says the pedal is built with the same cascading gain stages as the flagship amp1. Guitar World describes the EQ as Bass, Treble and Middle controls and says the Deep switch is intended to emulate the amp's low-end punch, which the amp produces through its own Depth control3. MusicRadar describes the pedal as an overdrive rather than a preamp2.
"The new Super Lead Overdrive pedal changes that, with the perfect balance of gain, sustain, and touch response the SLO is known for."
Soldano lists the pedal at 1 lb. and 2.6 inches wide, 4.5 inches deep and 2.25 inches high, with a limited five-year warranty1. It requires a 9V DC power source intended for guitar pedals, draws approximately 32mA at 9V, and must not be used with center-pin-positive adapters or AC power1.
Soldano traces the amp line to 1987, when Mike Soldano created the Super Lead Overdrive 100-watt tube head1. MusicRadar and Guitar World both name players associated with the amp, including Eric Clapton, Gary Moore, Mick Mars and Warren DeMartini23. MusicRadar notes the pedal follows the $249 mini solid state SLO head revealed earlier in 20222.
