Spaceman Effects releases Atlas IV Preamp Booster as successor to Atlas III

August 16, 2025 · 3 sources

Spaceman Effects has released the Atlas IV: Preamp Booster, the next generation of its Atlas III, which the maker says has been out of production for several years1. Pedal of the Day covered the pedal on August 16, 20252.

The Atlas IV is a discrete FET transistor preamp circuit with up to 15dB of boost, built with through-hole components and wired by hand in Portland, Oregon1. It has one large boost knob and two toggle switches. Thrust increases harmonic saturation, slightly lowers headroom and raises maximum output by 5dB; Axis shifts the voicing up, reducing bass and increasing treble1. Spaceman describes the pedal as "a booster, a pre-amp and a tone enhancer"1.

"While classified as a "clean boost", the Atlas IV offers two levels of harmonic enhancement, adding richness and sparkle with up to 15db of boost power."

Switching is true bypass via a soft-click footswitch, and the maker says the toggle switches are quiet for use with cranked amps1. The pedal runs on a 9V battery or a 9V DC negative-center supply through a 2.1mm jack, and has an EXP/control voltage TRS jack for 0-5V DC1. Spaceman lists three signed and numbered First Editions (Gray, Black and White), with the Gray Edition described as ultra-limited with a vintage dimmable aerospace indicator; a limited White Light Edition is sold only through stores1.

Guitar Pedal X, writing on June 26, 2025, said the Gray version had sold out quickly and that the Black and White Editions were then pre-orders3.
