Sundance Electric announces Clean Fuzz pedal

Sundance Electric announced the Sundance Electric Clean Fuzz, a hand-built fuzz and distortion pedal, in a report published April 27, 2022¹. The builder describes it as "a super versatile distortion/fuzz pedal that is killer for both guitar and bass"¹.

The pedal has three controls: Volume, which sets output level; Gain, which sets the amount of gain and fuzz; and Clean, which the builder says "controls the amount of clipping from the diodes and in turn sounds like adding clean signal on top of your dirty tone"¹. A toggle on the back switches the diodes between germanium, described as more compressed and suited to noisier fuzz, and silicon, described as more open and suited to boost and overdrive-like tones¹. The builder's notes describe the switch as selecting between germanium or a silicon and germanium pair of diodes¹.

The pedal runs on standard 9V center-negative power and uses true-bypass soft-click switching¹. The builder says it goes "from sweet dirty boost all the way to thick creamy fuzz and distortion"¹. Sundance Electric is based in California and builds its pedals one by one, by hand; its roster includes fuzzes and overdrives¹.

The report gives no price or ship date¹. A later report, published January 26, 2023, describes a Clean Fuzz V2 among three pedals from the company, then described as a small, family-run operation in Orange County, California². That report says that with the Clean knob maxed out the pedal gives a boosted tone with fuzz breaking through as the player digs in, and with the knob all the way down a thicker, more compressed fuzz². It also says the distortion/fuzz circuit uses both NPN and PNP transistors².
