The FuzzBillion is available for preorder on the Teaching Machines website, Stefan Karlsson reported on October 1, 2025. The pedal was conceived by Frank Naughton of Teaching Machines and engineered into a production unit by Grindle of Life Is Unfair Audio Devices1.
The pedal has 11 rotary switches numbered 0 to 9, which Karlsson described as component roulette wheels with an up/down selection mechanic. He wrote that they deliver 11 billion combinations overall, "but probably only 10 billion of those are properly usable!"1. The circuit covers multi-clipping overdrive and distortion, octave fuzz and phase locked loop squarewave fuzz, with selections for biasing, clipping diodes and capacitors, and dual tone controls1. Karlsson listed the controls as Boost, Gain / OpAmp Gain, Peak Waveform Clipping, Through (Dip) Waveform Clipping, Tilt Tone Control, Fuzz Octave Gain, Fuzz Octave Blend (Mix), PLL Phase Locked Loop Squarewave Fuzz, Bias Controls, Output Clipping, Moving Single Pole Filter High Cut and Volume. Each wheel runs from 0 (bypass) to 9, often with 5 as a neutral stage1.
A switch near the bottom right edge selects between guitar and line input. The pedal has TS input and output jacks and takes 9V DC [-] current. Karlsson wrote that there was no manual yet and therefore no technical details or specs1. He described the circuit as surface-mount, which he said kept the unit from being four times its size1.
"The circuit is built up from left to right - so it's kind of a truly expansive breadboarding device on rails"
Karlsson compared it to the Joe Gore Gross Distortion, which he said has two 12-position diode wheels for 156 combinations1.
