Third Man Hardware and Anasounds launch La Grotte spring reverb pedal

Third Man Hardware partnered with Anasounds to produce the La Grotte spring reverb pedal, announced on August 29, 20241. According to Anasounds, the pedal is the result of almost four years of collaboration between the two parties, which began when Jack White got his hands on an Anasounds Elements reverb1. MusicRadar reports that White bought one in 2021 and that the first prototype was finished in 20232.
The final La Grotte features three genuine springs that provide the reverb tones, along with a built-in preamp that offers plenty of headroom but can still tap into the grit and dirt of White's typical sound1. An internal trimpot can crank or dial down the gain1. Controls include Low and High parameters for adjusting frequencies and Dry and Wet knobs for controlling the preamp gain1. Three shorter springs were used instead of one long spring, which Guitar World reports makes the pedal a bit more pedalboard-friendly1. MusicRadar describes the preamp as inspired by Tampco's Tone Oven, with two-band EQ and independent volume settings for wet and dry signals2. Guitar Pedal X reports that the original Element's central Saturation toggle is no longer part of the control interface, leaving four main knobs, and lists internal slider switches for Pad, Fade-In and Trails plus trim-pots for Preamp Gain and Fade-In3. Delicious Audio reports a -10dB internal pad, true bypass or buffered bypass selectable via a side toggle switch, and a fade in/fade out system intended to avoid splash sounds from footswitch activation4.
The standard La Grotte will be available for $299, while a limited-edition version in a different finish will go for $349 exclusively from Third Man's Reverb shop1. Gearnews reported both were due at the end of September and available to preorder5.
