Thorpy FX has announced the Thorpy FX Tacit Blue, a germanium fuzz pedal, Delicious Audio reported on November 9, 20231. It is part of the UK company's "Vintage Reimagined" series21.
Delicious Audio reported that the pedal is not a Blues Breaker variant, as the name might have suggested, but "a Fuzz Face one"1. The report described it as a highly modified circuit with a broader sonic palette than the original, able to deliver thick lower gain overdrive tones when the Fuzz knob is set lower1. The other knobs are Smooth, Volume and Bias; Smooth sets the wooliness of the fuzz tone, and Bias adds what the report called a little bit more aggression1. The circuit sits in a laser-cut black anodized aluminum enclosure1.
Thorpy FX's own description, as published by PedalPedia, says the sound is based on a highly modified fuzz face type circuit for a more versatile vintage style sound, and that the pedal can give a subtle hair to notes or get crazily thick, or serve as a lower gain overdrive2.
"The Tacit Blue is part of our “Vintage Reimagined” series and is a germanium Fuzz pedal that plays nicely with your pedalboard."
PedalPedia lists the circuit type as analog and the voltage as 9V DC, center negative2. Its width, depth and height fields show 000.00 mm2. No US price or ship date was given in the published material.
Delicious Audio's post followed its coverage of a second pedal in the same series, the Have Blue, a germanium boost based on a modified Rangemaster circuit31. A review headline cited by PedalPedia described the pair as Thorpy reissuing its germanium veteran across two separate compact pedals3.
