Totally Wycked Audio has announced the TWA Source Code, a Tube Screamer-style overdrive designed by Susumu Tamura, the engineer behind the original TS808 circuit¹². Guitar Pedal X published its report on November 6, 2025².

Tamura developed his Tube Screamer circuit for Maxon in 1979, two years after the Boss OD-1 and partly inspired by it, according to Guitar Pedal X². The maker says Tamura has been analyzing his soft-clip circuit since 2021 to optimize its performance¹. The Source Code is a four-knob drive: Drive, Tone and Level, plus a new Bite control that moves the clipping from symmetrical to asymmetrical as it is turned up¹². The maker describes it as a "Next-Gen 808-Style overdrive designed by Tube Screamer creator Susumu Tamura"¹.

The pedal runs on a 9V supply or 9V battery, with an internal regulator boosting operation to 18V for what the maker calls improved dynamics and headroom¹. It also has a multi-transistor input buffer, a "Magic IC" op-amp, a +6 dB boost circuit, top-mounted jacks and mechanical true bypass switching¹. The maker says it is handmade in the USA¹.

Guitar Pedal X gives the price as $299 from the Totally Wycked Audio webstore². The maker's page lists the pedal for pre-order¹.
