Universal Audio released UAFX firmware 2.0 in November 2025, adding MIDI functionality across its compatible Universal Audio pedals, according to reviews published by Guitar World and MusicRadar. Both outlets describe the update as the headline addition to the range.

The MIDI support covers the amp emulator pedals Woodrow '55, Dream '65, Ruby '63, Knuckles '92, Anti 1992, Lion '68 and Enigmatic '82, and the effects pedals Astra, Starlight, Golden Reverberator, Del-Verb, Galaxy '74 and Max¹²³⁴⁵. Guitar World writes that the lack of MIDI compatibility had been "one of the biggest criticisms of the UAFX amp pedal"¹. MusicRadar's review of the Golden Reverberator, Starlight Echo Station and Astra Modulation Machine notes that the same criticism applied to the dual-footswitch pedals².

Firmware 2.0 also lets players store four presets on the pedals and switch between them on the hardware, and Universal Audio has improved app connectivity via Bluetooth and added a hardwired USB-to-Mobile connection option¹²³⁴⁵. Guitar World calls the combination "a significant enhancement for these already excellent pedals"¹.

The pedals covered in the reviews carry different US list prices. Guitar World gives the Enigmatic '82 at $399¹ and the Knuckles '92 at $457⁴; MusicRadar cites $375 for the Max⁵. The reviews do not state a price for the firmware itself.

The reviews list the following specifications for the pedals affected:

MusicRadar's Lion '68 review reports that connecting the UAFX app via Bluetooth had become "far more stable and reliable" on an Android phone since Universal Audio rolled out new firmware³. Guitar World's Enigmatic '82 review, by contrast, reports that the UAFX Control app would not work on the reviewer's Android phone¹.
