Universal Audio announces OX Stomp Dynamic Speaker Emulator pedal

Universal Audio announced the UAFX OX Stomp Dynamic Speaker Emulator on September 26, 2023, a pedal-format version of its OX Amp Top Box12. The attenuation and load box functions of the OX Box are dropped, and the line-level OX Stomp focuses on speaker, mic and room emulation at the end of a signal chain1. It is the company's fourteenth pedal release12.
The pedal offers 22 speaker cabs and six vintage microphones, with Dynamic Speaker Modeling that the maker says emulates speaker breakup, drive and cone cry123. It includes over 100 curated RIG setups, and the UAFX Control app handles deeper editing of mics, effects and footswitch configurations, with Room, Speaker and two Mic levels available alongside five selectable Rig preset slots on the unit itself14. Effects include 1176 compression, plate reverb, chorus, flange, three delay types (dual, crossover and ping-pong) and four-band EQ with high and low-cut filters41. It has buffered bypass with analog dry through, and a rear-panel USB-to-MIDI connection receives preset changes and realtime control of effects and EQ4.

The OX Stomp is $399 and requires a 400mA isolated power supply, sold separately12. MusicRadar noted the absence of a headphone output and an XLR out for mixing desks1. Guitar Pedal X noted it is not a reactive load, load box or attenuator and includes no amp emulations, so another amp emulator or preamp is required3.
