VFE opens pre-orders for Tiamat overdrive, its final pedal design

September 1, 2026 · 1 sources

VFE Pedals has opened pre-orders for the Tiamat, an overdrive pedal the maker describes as its final overdrive design. The listing gives a regular price of $199.00 and a sale price of $149.00, with shipping in fall 20261.

The Tiamat is built on the company's Dragon overdrive circuit. According to the maker, it adds a clean blend, separate slope switches and a switch to toggle between dynamic and saturated tones1. VFE calls it "my definitive overdrive design after 8 other versions across 18 years (three versions of the Proto OD, three versions of the Pale Horse, and two versions of the Dragon)"1.

"The Tiamat overdrive takes the Dragon overdrive circuit an adds a clean blend, separate slope switches, and a switch to toggle between dynamic and saturated tones."

The front-panel controls are listed as follows1:

ControlFunction
GAINSets the amount of gain in the overdrive circuit
DRIVESets the volume of the overdrive circuit
CLEANSets the volume of the clean tone blended into the drive circuit
COMPSets the compression ratio and clipping type (middle position = diode lift)
HPFSets the cutoff frequency of the pre-gain high-pass filter (affects bass response)
LPFSets the cutoff frequency of the post-gain low-pass filter (affects treble response)
6 / 12Sets the slope of each filter, from a gentle 6 dB per octave slope to a sharper 12 dB per octave
SAT / DYNSelects between silicon clipping diodes for more saturation and sustain and mosfet transistors for better dynamics and greater overall output

Three settings are internal: an IMPED trimpot for input impedance, a BUFF/TRUE slide switch to select between true bypass and buffered bypass switching, and an LED trimpot for the brightness of the on/off indicator light1.

Buyers will choose from at least five colors: white, black, blue, green and one color yet to be determined. The images on the listing are mockups, and the maker states the final graphic and exact colors are subject to change; color and graphic are chosen when production begins in the fall1. VFE also states it is looking for an artist to replace the AI-generated concept art with a final graphic, with a budget of $500, and directs inquiries to sales@vfepedals.com1.

The listing offers a 30-day return period on pedals returned in new condition and a one-year warranty on parts and labor. VFE states it will continue to offer repair service for out-of-warranty products indefinitely, even after it closes down at the end of 20261.
