Walrus Audio releases Fable MkII stereo granular pedal

Walrus Audio has released the Fable MkII, a stereo version of its 2023 granular delay, built on the company's in-house MDSP platform at $349.99¹². The original Fable landed in March 2023 as Walrus's first granular delay pedal³; the MkII adds true stereo operation, MIDI, expression and external tap, and a USB-C port².

The pedal is a dual-stage design: signal runs through two effects in series, controlled separately by the Feedback and Regen knobs, then back through both before the output¹. Five modes pair a delay with a granular algorithm: reverse delay into reverse granular, forward delay into octave-up granular, analog-style delay into octave-down granular, two multi-tap granular algorithms in series, and forward delay into randomized pitch granular¹. A Tweak button cycles through Width, Mod Rate (0.1 Hz to 5 Hz), Mod Shape (sine, square or random), Shift (0.5x to 2x) and Ramp (50 ms to 5000 ms), with the Tweak knob setting the selected value¹. Holding the tap tempo switch shifts the clock rate for as long as it is held¹.

Three presets save on the pedal, plus a live mode, and 127 more are available over MIDI¹. MIDI clock controls delay time from 100 ms to 1000 ms in Modes I, II, III and V, and drives sample rate stretch in Mode IV¹. Any knob can be assigned to the expression input, or the jack set as an external tap¹. Bypass is buffered, with Trails or No Trails modes; the pedal ships in Trails¹.

Specifications from the maker¹:

The Fable MkII is available from authorized Walrus Audio dealers³. It comes in an illustrated version with artwork by Niall Grant and a Minimal Black version with a simplified icon on a black enclosure³. It is part of the Delay Pedals category, and Walrus positions it alongside the Lore reverse soundscape generator, which also received a MkII version³⁴.
