Wampler announces TCD Compulsion Drive, an OCD-based overdrive with four circuits

Wampler announced the TCD, or The Compulsion Drive, on November 28, 2025. The overdrive and distortion pedal is Brian Wampler's take on the Fulltone OCD, with modifications to the original design¹. MusicRadar describes it as "inspired by the Fulltone OCD but with an expanded set of features"².

The pedal has Bass, Mids and Treble EQ controls, plus Level and Gain¹. A front-panel Mode switch selects the clipping mode: in the down position it uses the traditional gain structure, and in the up position it engages cascaded MOSFET gain stages, which Wampler says gives a "harder-hitting and more tube-like sound"¹. MusicRadar reports that the Treble control does the same thing as the Tone control on the original OCD².

Inside the pedal, two DIP switches provide four circuit variations¹². The Fat switch adds low-end warmth, and the Diode switch adds an extra clipping diode for a tighter, more saturated distortion¹³².

The TCD is made in the USA and runs on 9V or 18V DC from a pedalboard power supply²; Gearnews gives the range as 9 to 18 volts and notes top-mounted jacks¹. Gearnews lists the pedal at Thomann for $213¹. MusicRadar gives a price of $199 and says it is available now². The two publications do not agree on the US price.

Gearnews criticized the internal switches, with its reviewer writing, "I'm not a huge fan of internal switches, as they make pedals a PITA to adjust when you are playing live or in the studio"¹.
