Wampler released the Cryptid Fuzz on March 4, 2025, according to coverage from Gearnews and MusicRadar¹². The maker lists the pedal as in stock at $199.97³, and Guitar World gives the same figure⁴. 99⁵.

The pedal is a fuzz with four knobs and two switches: Volume, Fuzz, Tone and Character knobs, plus Chime and Tight switches³. Wampler describes the Character control as a bias control that runs from distorted fuzz sounds similar to its Velvet Fuzz through muff, bender and "Fuzz Factory" territory³. The three-position Tight switch shapes the low end, and the Chime toggle adds harmonic air on top³. MusicRadar reports that Chime adds three levels of "harmonic sparkle" and Tight offers three levels of low-end response². Gearnews reports true bypass circuitry¹.

Wampler calls the Cryptid an entirely new circuit and a homage to Brian Wampler's favorite vintage fuzz pedals³. Guitar World reports the circuit blends transistors, FETs and an op-amp stage⁴. The pedal is built in the USA, takes a battery or a 9V to 18V power jack, draws 15 mA at 9V and 30 mA at 18V, measures 2.59 by 4.98 by 2.29 inches, and carries a limited five-year warranty³. Wampler recommends 9V DC operation, stating that the pedal is biased there and designed to sound its best at that voltage³.

MusicRadar quotes Wampler describing the pedal as "the culmination of everything I've ever wanted in a fuzz pedal"².
