Jim Dunlop unveiled the limited edition Way Huge Smalls Geisha Drive overdrive pedal at NAMM 2024, according to Guitar World1. The pedal becomes available on February 18 2024 and retails at $242.841.
The pedal has three controls: volume, drive and tone1. Guitar World reports that the drive control runs from "warm, buttery goodness with a bit of velvet around the edges" at low settings, through a thicker, tube amp-inspired overdrive at the midway point, to what Jim Dunlop calls "gnarly thunder-and-lightning distortion" with the knob all the way to the right1. The tone knob brightens or mellows the sound, and the volume knob sets output level1. Dunlop says the pedal offers "a wide range of dynamic, touch-sensitive tones," shaped by the intensity of the player's attack and the volume of the guitar1.
The enclosure carries colorful artwork and Japanese katakana writing1. Way Huge, an arm of the Dunlop brand, had previously released the design on a brushed steel pedal limited to 40 pieces, which sold out quickly; the new version has a white finish1. Delicious Audio describes the Geisha Drive as a limited edition Smalls series version of an older, larger pedal that gained a following in the late 2010s, smaller than its predecessor in both height and width, with the same three knobs for volume, drive and tone2.
"The pedal becomes available on February 18 2024."
Guitar World reports that players can sign up on the Jim Dunlop website to be notified when the pedal goes on sale1.
