Wilson Effects announces Capstone overdrive with switchable germanium clipping
April 9, 2026 · 3 sources

The Wilson Effects Capstone was reported on April 9, 2026, as a new overdrive pedal from Wilson Effects. The maker lists it at $155.00, SKU 0391.
The pedal has GAIN, LEVEL, BASS, MID and TREBLE controls plus a Clipping MOD switch2. Flipping the switch to the left engages the stock diode clipping mode; switching it to the right introduces a pair of NOS NPN Germanium transistors1. Wilson Effects says the gain control is also influenced by the Mid and Bass controls, and that increasing the mids and bass enhances the grit1. Delicious Audio describes the right position as softening the top end and making the low end "squishy," with notes blooming into fuzz-adjacent territory, and calls it "Not a Muff. Not a Fuzz Face. Something in between."3
Delicious Audio reports true bypass, that the pedal is handmade in Guilford, Indiana, and a one-year warranty3. Guitar Pedal X reports a reversed board inside that makes the components, including the germanium transistors, difficult to see2.
"The Capstone is a tribute to the concept of "Transparent Overdrive," preserving your guitar’s natural tone while offering the flexibility to add grit and even push it into a subtle fuzz-like territory."
Guitar Pedal X, writing on April 17, 2026, said its Capstone "can be incredibly subtle and exceptionally transparent" and that it needs to be cranked to reveal a more textured side; its preferred textured settings were MOD to the right, Gain, Bass and Level at 3 o'clock, and Mids and Treble fully cranked2. The reviewer reported paying a total of $167 direct from the Wilson Effects webstore, including a Spring discount and $35.70 shipping2.
