The AC noises AMA V.2 is a reverb pedal with a built-in oscillator and a bit crusher placed after the reverb. AC Noises describes it as being for players "who love a gently modulated and oscillating spring reverb in front of a bit crusher"1. Delicious Audio, in a buying guide to hybrid reverbs, summed it up as "An ambient reverb followed by a switchable Bitcrusher (Crush toggle) and a modulation section (OSC knob)"2.

Where it came from

AC Noises released the original AMA Reverb Oscillator Bit Crusher in 2018, the year after the company's mid-2017 start, and Pedal of the Day called that first version "One of our favorite pedals from 2018, it has gained much notoriety and praise across the globe the last few years"34. The V.2, marked simply as V.2, is the result of the feedback AC Noises received from around the world3. The maker also builds the AC Noises Respira, a reverb and tremolo pedal, and the AC Noises RICORDA4.

Controls

The AMA V.2 offers up to four control parameters for the reverb (OSC, MIX, REVERB and RAMP) and two for the bit crusher (RESOLUTION and SAMPLE RATE)1.

ControlWhat it does
OSCSets how much oscillation is noticed on the reverb tail, from no oscillation fully counterclockwise to self-oscillation mode fully clockwise3
MIXBalances dry and wet signal; clockwise increases the reverberated signal percentage3
REVERBControls the decay's length; clockwise makes the reverb tail longer3
SAMPLE RATESets the bit crusher's internal oscillation frequency; clockwise focuses the oscillation on high frequencies and sounds brighter3
RESOLUTIONControls the amount of the oscillation pulse; clockwise makes pulses wider and the signal less crushed3
CRUSH toggleEngages the bit crusher circuit placed after the reverb3

The OSC knob is one of the new features of the V.2. In the first version, the reverb oscillator was only switchable on or off and strictly related to the decay3.

The RAMP footswitch

Pedal of the Day called the RAMP footswitch "One of the most exciting feature of the AMA V.2"3. It is related to the reverb's oscillator, and its work speed depends on the OSC knob setting: the more closed the OSC knob is, the faster the ramp works3.

Expression input

The pedal has an expression input connected to the sample rate, which allows you to bypass the SAMPLE RATE knob and control the frequency's cut with an external expression pedal. A 10k value expression pedal is recommended3. Any pedal from a dedicated expression pedal range with a 10k pot will suit.

Bypass and switching

Pedal of the Day states: "The AMA is a true bypass pedal (switching system managed by soft switch + programmed relay)"3.

Availability

AC Noises' product page lists the AMA Reverb with Oscillator and Bit Crusher V.2 as sold out as of October 20261. The pedal was produced as part of the maker's Limited RETRO Series5.

What reviewers said

Pedal of the Day's verdict on the tones: "the tones are an ambient experimenter's dream"3. The same review described the reworked bit crusher in the V.2 as more musical than the one in the original3. Delicious Audio included the pedal among hybrid reverbs that pair a reverb with a second effect, describing the layout as an ambient reverb followed by a switchable bit crusher and a modulation section2.

Questions

Does the AC Noises AMA V.2 have true bypass?

Yes. Pedal of the Day describes the AMA as a true bypass pedal, with the switching system managed by a soft switch and a programmed relay. That means the pedal's circuitry is taken out of the signal path when it is off, and the relay-based switching handles the bypassing rather than a simple mechanical switch.

Is the bit crusher before or after the reverb?

The bit crusher is placed after the reverb. The signal path runs through a gently modulated and oscillating spring reverb first, and the CRUSH toggle switch engages the bit crusher circuit that sits after it. Delicious Audio describes the pedal as an ambient reverb followed by a switchable bit crusher and a modulation section.

Can I use an expression pedal with the AC Noises AMA V.2?

Yes. The pedal has an expression input connected to the sample rate, which lets you bypass the SAMPLE RATE knob and control the frequency's cut with an external expression pedal. A 10k value expression pedal is recommended.

What does the RAMP footswitch do?

The RAMP footswitch is related to the reverb's oscillator, and its work speed depends on the OSC knob setting. Pedal of the Day called it one of the most exciting features of the AMA V.2.

What does the OSC knob do?

The OSC knob is a new feature of the V.2 and sets how much oscillation is noticed on the reverb tail, going from no oscillation at all fully counterclockwise to self-oscillation mode fully clockwise. In the first version of the pedal, the reverb oscillator was only switchable on or off and strictly related to the decay.

Is the AC Noises AMA V.2 sold out?

Yes. AC Noises' own product page lists the AMA Reverb with Oscillator and Bit Crusher V.2 as sold out as of October 2026. The pedal was produced as part of the company's Limited RETRO Series.
