The Alexander Pedals Space Force is a multi-mode stereo reverb pedal, announced in December 2022 as the first release in the company's Leap Series. Alexander describes it as "our updated take on the sounds of 'elsewhere,'" with eight ways to add space to a signal, and it is an evolution of the company's 2018 Space Race reverb.12
What it does
The Space Force takes a guitar or bass signal and adds reverb, with eight modes covering different approaches to the effect. Two of the eight modes, Echoverb and Dynamic, are new to this pedal; the other six carry over from the Space Race.2 The pedal handles stereo in and out, so it works in a stereo rig rather than only at the end of a mono chain.2
Under the hood it runs on an FXCore DSP, which Alexander says has "more than 8 times the processing power than our previous Neo Series pedals."1 That jump in processing is what allows the extra modes and preset capacity compared with the Neo generation.12
For saving sounds, the pedal holds 32 onboard presets, arranged as four banks of eight, all reachable from the pedal itself without external controllers. A small but high resolution LED screen shows the settings.2
Space Force compared with the Space Race
The Space Force is a direct successor to the Space Race, Alexander's Neo Series reverb from 2018, which Delicious Audio's Paolo De Gregorio described as the pedal the Space Force "looks like an evolution of."2
| Space Race (2018) | Space Force (2022) | |
|---|---|---|
| Series | Neo Series | Leap Series |
| Modes | 6 | 8, adding Echoverb and Dynamic |
| Presets | not a feature of the Neo platform as reported | 32 onboard (4 banks of 8) |
| Display | none reported | small, high resolution LED screen |
| Engine | Neo Series platform | FXCore DSP, over 8 times the processing power |
The Space Race's control set gives a sense of what carried over in spirit. Its Tweak knob controlled a different parameter in each mode, and its volume function, reached by holding Select and turning the knob, set output level from -20dB to +10dB, with unity gain near 1 o'clock. Its six modes included ANALOG, which Alexander described as an "Electronic reverb based on an obscure bucket-brigade echo circuit," with Reverb controlling delay time, Space controlling repeats, and Tweak adding adjustable modulation.3
Where it sits in the Leap Series
The Space Force launched the Leap Series, which Alexander says "improves upon our popular Neo Series platform in lots of ways."1 Later Leap Series pedals include the Syntax Error XP glitch pedal and the Fever Pitch stereo pitch shifter, both of which share the series' approach of multiple engines, stereo ins and outs, and 32 presets.1

Questions
How many reverb modes does the Space Force have?
The Space Force carries eight reverb modes. Two of them, Echoverb and Dynamic, are new additions, while the other six carry over from the modes of the earlier Space Race, the 2018 Neo Series reverb the Space Force evolved from. Alexander describes the pedal as eight ingenious ways to add some space to your place.
Is the Space Force stereo?
Yes. The Space Force features stereo input and output, so it can sit in a stereo rig or an effects loop with both channels connected. It is a multi-mode stereo reverb built on the Leap Series platform, which Alexander Pedals introduced with this pedal in December 2022.
How many presets does the Space Force hold?
The Space Force holds 32 onboard presets, arranged as four banks of eight presets each. All of them are accessible from the pedal itself, without any external controller, and a small but high resolution LED screen shows what is loaded.
