The AMT F1 is a guitar preamp pedal from AMT Electronics, designed around the specs of the Fender Twin amplifier's clean channel1. It is an analog preamp with Clean, Low gain and High gain modes, and it carries a full signal chain in one box: a compressor, a Power Amp section with nine types, IR cabinet simulation and a global noise gate23. AMT lists it as soon available as of 26 October 20263.

What it does

The front end is analog, with three gain modes: Clean, Low gain and High gain2. Around it, AMT has built a complete rig-in-a-pedal feature set23:

  • Compressor2
  • Power Amp section with nine types2
  • IR cabsim, with one IR for both L/R channels per preset3
  • Noise Gate, set globally3
  • Speaker simulator mode for connection to a mixer, selected by a switch on the left panel1

The output level is aimed at matching real tube preamps: AMT states the Legend Amps series delivers +10 dB at max Level position, corresponding to tube preamp output levels, making the unit suitable for connection to any input, including the power amp input of an amplifier1. That matters in practice: the F1 can drive a power amp directly, feed a mixer through its speaker simulator mode, or act as a clean platform in front of an amp.

Effects loop and stereo use

The F1 has FX SEND and FX RETURN jacks for connecting external effects such as reverb, delay, chorus, flanger or phaser1. A switch on the bottom of the unit, under the cover, sets the loop to serial or parallel mode, which AMT describes as significantly expanding routing options1.

In mono mode, without external overdriven channels, the LED is single-colored and the footswitch acts as bypass for the Clean channel1.

The F1 runs on 12V DC, center negative, and AMT includes a 12V power supply with the unit14. It will not run from a standard pedalboard power supply rated for lower voltages.

Where it sits in AMT's range

The F1 belongs to AMT's Legend Amps series of preamp pedals, which the maker describes as having compact sizes and low energy consumption characteristic to semiconductor-based effects1. Sibling units include the AMT V1 and AMT O2; AMT's media center published a comparison video of the Legend Amps F1, V1 and O2 covering light crunch tones5. Other preamps in the wider range include the AMT P1 and the AMT Electronics Preamp F1 listing on RockBoard's PedalPedia. For the broader category, see Preamp Pedals.

Questions

Is the AMT F1 available yet?

As of 26 October 2026, AMT Electronics' media center listed the F1 as soon available, so the unit had been announced with its full feature set but was not yet on sale. Players interested in it should watch AMT's own announcements for a release date.

What amp is the AMT F1 based on?

AMT Electronics says the pedal is designed around the specs of the Fender Twin amplifier, specifically its clean channel. The preamp offers Clean, Low gain and High gain modes on its analog front end, so it covers from untouched Twin-style clean tones into lightly pushed territory.

Does the AMT F1 come with a power supply?

Yes. AMT states that the F1 comes with a 12V power supply included. The pedal runs on 12V DC, center negative, so it needs its own supply rather than a standard 9V pedalboard output.

Can the AMT F1 go straight to a mixer?

Yes. When connecting to a mixer, the preamp has a speaker simulator mode, selected by a switch on the left panel. Combined with the IR cabinet simulation, this lets the F1 feed a mixer or audio interface without a guitar amp or separate load box.

Does the AMT F1 have an effects loop?

Yes. The F1 has FX SEND and FX RETURN jacks for connecting external effects such as reverb, delay, chorus, flanger or phaser. A switch under the cover on the bottom of the unit sets the loop to serial or parallel operation.
