The Custom MKI Americano is a fuzz pedal from Black Cat, one of three new Black Cat fuzz pedals Premier Guitar checked out, alongside the Custom Professional MKII and the Bass Octave Fuzz1.
What it does
The pedal takes the platform of the classic British fuzz designs and builds it with American parts. Premier Guitar's Shawn Hammond described it as "built on a similar platform to the famous British fuzz circuits of yore, but with all-American components"1.
How it is built
The MKI Americano is wired point-to-point on double turrets, a hand-wiring method where components are joined directly to turret terminals rather than a printed circuit board. Premier Guitar noted that the Custom Professional MKII uses the same construction, "just like the MKI Americano"1.
