The Champion Leccy Skitter is a reverb and tremolo combo pedal, which the maker calls "a fancy pants reverb with tremolo. A reverbolo."1 It is built on a Belton Brick reverb, the compact spring reverb emulation module, with a tremolo that can be routed to the dry signal, the reverb, or both2. What sets it apart from most reverb and tremolo combos is that routing: a Kilter switch decides whether the reverb's tremolo runs in sync with the dry signal's tremolo or mirrors it, so one gets louder while the other gets quieter3.

The line has a split history. The V2 shipped in standard boxes and was discontinued, and the Skitter sat dormant until Champion Leccy brought it back as the V3 with a full relaunch in May 20262.

What it does to your sound

The Skitter splits your signal into a dry path and a Belton Brick reverb path, and an LFO then modulates the volume of the two signals5. With the Kilter switch up, both signals are modulated at the same time; with it down, the pedal goes "off-kilter," where the reverb gets loud when the dry signal gets quiet and vice versa, according to the selected LFO waveform3.

The V3's headline addition is phase cancellation tremolo on either the dry or reverb path. Delicious Audio's reviewer described what happens when the LFO speed is pushed: the reverb signal gets amplitude modulated into metallic, clangorous textures that sound nothing like a standard tremolo, effectively becoming ring modulation at high LFO speed2.

The controls

The Skitter's control set is built around the LFO and how its tremolo is routed. The maker's own control guide breaks it down as follows3:

ControlWhat it does
LoveReverb volume3
SpaceDepth of the modulation3
TimeSpeed of the LFO, with tap tempo3
Waveform knob (small red knob with squiggly lines)Selects one of eight LFO waveforms3
Trem switchTremolo on/off for the reverb signal; up is on, down is off3
Kilter switchReverb tremolo in sync with the dry tremolo (up) or mirroring it (down)3
Light switchBrightens or darkens the reverb voicing2

The eight LFO waveforms, from left to right on the selector, are3:

  • Ramp up
  • Ramp down
  • Square wave
  • Triangle
  • Sine
  • Sweep
  • Random (levels)
  • Random (slopes)

One quirk worth knowing: with one of the two random waveforms selected, the LFO does not follow the tap tempo or Time knob, because of the random nature of the waveform. The maker notes it will sound like the LFO isn't taking the Time knob too seriously3.

V2 versus V3

The V2 was a reverb and tremolo combo with the same core idea: a Belton Brick reverb, an LFO with eight waveforms, tremolo routable to the reverb, dry signal or both, tap tempo, tape sounds and resonant echo, all in one wet signal path6. It shipped in standard boxes and carried a $225 list price in a 2023 Delicious Audio buying guide7.

The V3, relaunched in May 2026 after a long hiatus, changed several things2:

  • Phase cancellation tremolo on either the dry or reverb path, becoming ring modulation at high LFO speed2
  • Folded enclosures replacing the V2's standard boxes2
  • Improved gain staging, which the maker describes as "a wee bit better"8
  • A $265.00 list price, up from the V2's $22574

The first V3 batch came with limited edition art on preorder ahead of the full May 2026 relaunch2.

Where it sits in the Champion Leccy range

Champion Leccy's modulated reverb line includes the Swan Hunter, a lofi echo and reverb pedal, and the Skitzy, a dual layered modulated reverb that combines elements of the Skitter and the Woozy. In the maker's own function comparison table, the Skitter V2 sits alongside the Skitzy, the Woozy V2 and the Swan Hunter, with the Skitter distinguished by its Belton Brick reverb, tremolo routing and tap tempo6.

The Skitter's Kilter switch is not the same as the phase switch on Champion Leccy's Kilter pedal, as the maker's founder, Woolly, has pointed out9.

Questions

What power does the Champion Leccy Skitter need?

The Skitter V3 runs on a standard 9V DC center negative supply and draws 200mA2. That current draw is on the high side for a compact pedal, so it needs a power supply output rated for at least that much current.

Can the Skitter's tremolo go on the reverb only?

Yes. The Trem switch turns the tremolo on and off for the reverb signal on its own, and the Kilter switch then decides whether that reverb tremolo runs in sync with the dry tremolo or mirrors it3.

Does the Skitter have tap tempo?

Yes, the Time control sets the LFO speed with tap tempo. With one of the random waveforms selected, the LFO does not follow the tap tempo or Time knob, because the waveform itself is random3.

What reverb module does the Skitter V3 use?

A Belton Brick reverb, with a tremolo you can route to the dry signal, the reverb, or both2.

What changed between Skitter V2 and V3?

The V3 adds phase cancellation tremolo that becomes ring modulation at high LFO speeds, moves to folded enclosures, and improves the gain staging. It relaunched in May 2026 after the V2 was discontinued26.

How much does the Skitter V3 cost?

The Skitter V3 lists at $265.00 USD4. The V2 was listed at $225 in 20237.
