The CKK Scream Honey Overdrive is a limited edition overdrive pedal from CKK/Sinvertek, reported by Delicious Audio in May 2021. It is completely hand-soldered and built with selected high-quality components, and it was designed to be touch sensitive and to maintain the tone's character of the rig, what the maker calls "sound transparent," while delivering deeper low end, more open high end, and improved attack1.
What it does
The Scream Honey is an overdrive in the transparent, amp-like school rather than a heavy coloring pedal. Delicious Audio's product page describes a pedal built to respond to picking dynamics while keeping the character of the guitar and amp it is plugged into, adding low end, opening up the high end and improving attack1.
Its most distinctive control is the H, or Hollow, toggle switch. According to Delicious Audio, "H stands for Hollow and it attenuates some mid and mid-high frequency to create the classic scooped sound"1. That gives players two voicings from one pedal: a fuller response with the switch up, and a scooped midrange character with it engaged.
The maker's own description of the SH-1N, the model name under which the Scream Honey is sold, positions it at players chasing a particular kind of amp breakup: "The Scream Honey/SH-1N is especially for the Marshall enthusiasts who have never found a satisfied overdrive"2. The maker also describes two switch positions, noting that when both switches are in the down position, turned off, the pedal delivers "a traditional and classic overdrive tone"2.
Hand-built and limited editions
The Scream Honey line is built in small, hand-assembled runs. Delicious Audio introduced the 2021 pedal as "a limited edition overdrive... completely hand-soldered and created with selected high-quality components"1. The maker's description of the SH-1N says it was built with hand tested and selected vintage components that had been discontinued for several decades, collected over many years2.
The best documented edition is the CKK SH-1N Scream Honey Gold Edition. Guitar Pedal X's Stefan Karlsson reviewed his unit, numbered 39 of 59, in March 2022, after both the Gold and Dark Gold Editions had sold out. He described it as "a pristine, high-headroom, low-gain, transparent and amp-like minimally colouring overdrive," and noted a Hollow switch that cuts upper mids3. His verdict was measured: he found it reasonable value even at the higher rate, but said it was never really going to challenge his overall favorite overdrives, as he values range and versatility3.
"While it's never really going to challenge my overall favourite overdrives as listed in my recent 32 Key Compact Effects..."
Where it sits in the CKK range
CKK is a sister brand to Sinvertek, and both are made by Mr Wu, who is better known for the N5 series of Hyper Preamp pedals4. Guitar Pedal X has also noted further limited runs, reporting that "CKK / Sinvertek Releases a handful more Modded SH-1N Scream Honey Overdrive Pedals"4. For players comparing overdrives more broadly, the site's Overdrive Pedals page covers the type, and the Boss SD-1 vs Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer comparison covers two of the circuits the Scream Honey's scooped and classic voicings sit near.

Questions
Who makes the CKK Scream Honey Overdrive?
The Scream Honey is made by CKK, a sister brand to Sinvertek, the company behind the N5 series of Hyper Preamp pedals, with both made by Mr Wu according to Guitar Pedal X. The SH-1N was presented as the maker's first high-end overdrive pedal, based on what the maker describes as ten years of research into overdrive and amp tone combinations.
Is the CKK Scream Honey a Klon-style pedal?
The Scream Honey is documented as an overdrive designed to be touch sensitive and to preserve the character of the player's rig, the territory transparent and amp-like overdrives occupy. It is not documented as a Klon variant. CKK's later SHXC Super Overdrive, introduced in 2023, was reported by Delicious Audio as a hand-made Klon variant, which is a separate pedal.
What is the difference between the Scream Honey and the SH-1N Gold Edition?
The Gold Edition is a very limited version of the SH-1N Scream Honey, with the reviewer's unit numbered 39 of 59. Guitar Pedal X's Stefan Karlsson described the Gold Edition as a pristine, high-headroom, low-gain, transparent and amp-like overdrive that minimally colours the sound, and noted a Hollow switch that cuts upper mids.
Is the CKK Scream Honey Overdrive still in production?
The Scream Honey was released as a limited edition in 2021, and the Gold and Dark Gold Editions of the SH-1N were reported as sold out by March 2022. It is a limited release rather than a standard catalogue item, so used-market availability is what a player should expect.
