The Cold Brew Modulator is a vintage-inspired stereo chorus and vibrato pedal from Coffee Shop Pedals, created by Benno. It pairs the two modulation effects with bitcrushing and four Lofi modes, and adds tap tempo, three onboard presets, full MIDI control and Mono, MISO or Full Stereo operation1. For a player, it is a chorus/vibrato that can also degrade the signal in deliberately lo-fi ways, and it fits at the end of either a mono or a stereo rig. It sits in the wider family of chorus pedals and vibrato pedals.
Guitar Pedal X reported in February 2026 that the pedal has a one-month order window, after which it will be discontinued, "perhaps never to return", with a significant hiatus before any more are made1. It is a limited-run pedal, not a standing catalog item.
Stereo chorus and vibrato with Lofi modes
At its core the Cold Brew Modulator is a chorus and vibrato, the two sides of the same delay-line modulation circuit, with a Lofi layer on top that Guitar Pedal X describes as "Bitcrushing and Lo-Fi Chorus and Vibrato"1. The Lofi selector offers four choices: Vinyl, Tape, Radio and a fourth mode written as [+Aliaser]1. The fourth mode is a hidden one: you hold down the right-hand footswitch and move the Lofi Selector into the middle position to reach it1. A LOFI LEVEL knob, described as a tone control, sets how much of that character is blended in1.
The stereo side matters too. The pedal can be deployed in Mono, MISO, meaning mono in and stereo out, or Full Stereo1. The LAG control extends the delay time as well as widening the stereo width, so the same knob shapes both the character of the modulation and how wide it sits in a stereo rig1.
The controls and footswitches
The front panel carries five knobs and a waveform selector, plus two footswitches1:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| RATE | Sets modulation speed1 |
| DEPTH | Sets modulation depth1 |
| LAG | Extends the delay time and widens the stereo width1 |
| LOFI LEVEL [Tone] | Sets the level of the Lofi character1 |
| MIX [Volume] | Sets output level1 |
| WAVEFORM | Sine / Triangle / Random / Tri-Chorus1 |
| LOFI SELECT | Vinyl - Tape - Radio - [+Aliaser]1 |
The two footswitches divide the work:
- TAP / HOLD / RAMP footswitch: tap tempo, with hold and ramp functions1
- BYPASS / DIVISION [Hold for Alt] footswitch: bypass and division, with an alternate function on hold1
- Both footswitches together: steps through Presets 1 to 31
What reviewers said
Guitar Pedal X's Stefan Karlsson reviewed the pedal at its February 2026 announcement and was positive on both design and sound. On the design1:
"The Cold Brew has been really smartly thought out and conceived - giving you the perfect degrees of extension for a classic Chorus + Vibrato1."
Stefan Karlsson, Guitar Pedal X1
On the sound, he wrote, "There's so much to like here - it sounds superb," adding that he normally gravitates towards analog choruses but really liked how this one sounds, and that with its textural controls and presets it delivers a very compelling case, preferred over the planned J Rocket Aqueous1.

Questions
Does the Cold Brew Modulator have MIDI?
Yes. Guitar Pedal X's review lists full MIDI control among the pedal's features, alongside its four Lofi modes, tap tempo, three onboard presets and Mono, MISO or Full Stereo operation. That puts it among chorus and vibrato pedals that can be controlled from a MIDI setup rather than only from the front panel.
How many presets does the Cold Brew Modulator have?
The Cold Brew Modulator has three presets onboard. According to Guitar Pedal X, you access them by pressing both footswitches at once, which steps through Presets 1 to 3. The pedal also has tap tempo onboard for setting the rate by foot.
What are the Lofi modes on the Cold Brew Modulator?
The Lofi selector offers Vinyl, Tape, Radio and a fourth mode written as [+Aliaser]. The fourth mode is reached by holding down the right-hand footswitch and moving the Lofi Selector into the middle position. A LOFI LEVEL knob, described as a tone control, sets how much of the Lofi character comes through.
Can the Cold Brew Modulator run in full stereo?
Yes. Guitar Pedal X describes the pedal as able to be deployed in Mono, MISO, which is mono in and stereo out, and Full Stereo. That makes it usable on a mono board as well as at the end of a stereo rig.
How much current does the Cold Brew Modulator draw?
Guitar Pedal X reports that the pedal takes 220mA of current. That is well above what many daisy-chain supplies give per output, so a dedicated supply output rated for at least that figure is the safe way to power it.
Is the Cold Brew Modulator being discontinued?
Guitar Pedal X reported in February 2026 that the pedal has a one-month order window, after which it will be discontinued, perhaps never to return, with a significant hiatus before any more are made. If you are looking at one, it is a limited-run pedal rather than a standard catalog item.
