The CopperSound Gravity Bomb V2 is a mini analog clean boost and mids enhancer pedal. It delivers up to 20dB of clean gain over the sweep of its volume pot, enough to lift a solo, drive a pedal harder, or, as GuitarPlayer put it at launch, "pummel any tube amp into breakup"1. What separates it from a plain volume boost is a three-position Mid-enhance toggle that lets you focus that gain at 750Hz or 1kHz, or keep the EQ flat and neutral like the original Gravity Bomb2.
CopperSound positions it as more than a simple booster. In the maker's own words, "This isn't just a boost pedal; it's a precision instrument designed to inject up to 20dB of surgically clean gain"2. Delicious Audio found it "a great tool to pair with other pedals to give them a fresh tone and feel"3.
What the Gravity Bomb V2 does
The pedal is built around an audiophile-grade Burr Brown op amp, the same approach CopperSound used in the original Gravity Bomb24. The single Level knob controls the output volume, and the boost stays clean across the pot's sweep: up to 20dB of gain before the circuit itself colors the signal23.
The Mid-enhance toggle is the working heart of the pedal:
| Toggle position | What it does |
|---|---|
| Down | Boosts mids at 750Hz2 |
| Center | Flat, neutral EQ curve, same as Gravity Bomb V12 |
| Up | Boosts mids at 1kHz2 |
That midrange focus is what makes the V2 more than a volume lift. A boost at 750Hz or 1kHz pushes the frequencies where a guitar cuts through a band mix, so the same 20dB of gain can either add transparent level or add presence and push an amp into breakup in a more focused way. MusicRadar described the switch the same way: position one is flat and neutral as per V1, position two boosts mids at 750Hz, and position three boosts at 1kHz62.
Because the boost is clean and the EQ can stay flat, the pedal also works as a simple line driver or as a way to hit an overdrive or fuzz pedal harder without changing its character. Delicious Audio's take was that pairing it with other pedals gives them "a fresh tone and feel"3.
Power: 9V to 18V
The Gravity Bomb V2 runs on 9V to 18V through a 2.1 x 5.5mm center-negative DC input2. Current draw is modest: 10mA at 9V and 20mA at 18V2.
CopperSound's own recommendation is to "Try it at 18v for increased headroom!"2. In practice that means more clean signal available before the circuit clips, so the full 20dB of boost stays cleaner still when you push it hard. At 10mA at 9V, the pedal is light on a power supply and easy to fit on a crowded board.
The pedal runs on 9V to 18V DC only, with a 2.1 x 5.5mm center-negative connector. There is no battery option in the maker's specifications, so it needs a pedalboard power supply or a wall adapter2.
How the V2 differs from the original Gravity Bomb
The V2 "picks up where the original left off," keeping the miniature form factor and the overall sound of the Gravity Bomb V1, including its flat and neutral EQ in the center toggle position2. The circuit is similarly powered by the audiophile-grade Burr Brown op amp24.
The difference is the active mid-range control. RockBoard's PedalPedia entry explains the thinking: "We came up with the idea to incorporate an active mid-range control that would allow the user to access 2 mid-range freq[uencies]"4. The original Gravity Bomb had a completely flat EQ with no tonal options; the V2 adds the two mid-boost positions on the toggle while leaving the flat curve intact in the center4.
The enclosure is also part of the story. The V2 sits in CopperSound's custom Mini Series enclosure, which the maker describes as similar to the familiar 1590A box "but a little bit taller to make it easier to access while among larger/talle[r]" pedals2. MusicRadar grouped it among "a pair of mini guitar effects pedals" at launch6. At 3.65 by 1.8 by 2.19 inches, it takes up very little board space2.
Where it came from
CopperSound launched the Gravity Bomb V2 on October 14, 2022, alongside the Renegade multi-bias fuzz, with the V2 priced at $129 at launch1. The current list price on CopperSound's site is $149.00, and the pedal is listed as sold out there as of October 202625.
The Gravity Bomb V2 is one of several V2 updates in the CopperSound line, which also includes the Telegraph V2 autostutter and killswitch and the Strategy V2 preamp/overdrive, alongside mini pedals like the Kingpin overdrive and collaborations such as the Coppersound/JHS Boost-a-Drive Fuzz789.

Questions
Is the CopperSound Gravity Bomb V2 true bypass?
Yes. CopperSound says the Gravity Bomb V2 uses mechanical true-bypass switching, so with the pedal off the input signal is sent directly to the output and the circuit is out of the path entirely.
How much boost does the Gravity Bomb V2 give?
Up to 20dB of clean gain across the sweep of the volume pot, according to CopperSound. GuitarPlayer noted at launch that this is enough to push a tube amp into breakup, so it works as a volume lift or an overdrive trigger.
What does running the Gravity Bomb at 18V change?
CopperSound says running the pedal at 18V gives increased headroom, meaning more clean boost available before the circuit itself clips. Current draw is 10mA at 9V and 20mA at 18V.
What frequencies does the Gravity Bomb V2 mid toggle boost?
The three-position Mid-enhance toggle boosts mids at 750Hz in the down position and 1kHz in the up position. The center position keeps a flat, neutral EQ curve, matching the original Gravity Bomb V1.
Is the Gravity Bomb V2 a mini pedal?
Yes. It sits in CopperSound's custom Mini Series enclosure, similar to a 1590A box but slightly taller so the controls are easier to reach when the pedal is surrounded by larger units. It measures 3.65 by 1.8 by 2.19 inches.
