The D'Addario Chromatic Pedal Tuner Plus is a chromatic pedal tuner: a floor unit that sits on your pedalboard, detects the note you play and shows how sharp or flat it is, one note at a time. D'Addario describes it as the perfect combination of innovation, simplicity and style, and the Plus version adds a signal buffer and a set timer to the feature set of the standard D'Addario Chromatic Pedal Tuner1.
A chromatic tuner with a vertical color display
D'Addario also credits the tuner with fast note detection, so the readout settles quickly on the note you play1. The whole unit is housed in a rugged aluminum enclosure, built to take pedalboard life1.
Bassist Becky Baldwin is named by D'Addario as using the Chromatic Pedal Tuner, with the comment: "The Chromatic Pedal Tuner is simple to use, with a very clear display that works in all lighting."1
Calibration and the pitch button
On the standard Chromatic Pedal Tuner, a side-mounted "pitch" button accesses the calibration range, which Guitar World gives as A414 to A4752. That range covers everything from flat, vintage-leaning reference pitches up to sharper ensembles, so you can match the tuner to a piano, a horn section or another player's reference rather than being locked to A440. D'Addario lists a wide calibration range among the standard model's features, alongside fast note detection, superb accuracy and true-bypass wiring with an easily accessible foot switch3.
How it compares
The tuner pedal market is crowded, and the D'Addario sits among several familiar approaches:
| Tuner | Maker | Bypass | Notable feature |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chromatic Pedal Tuner Plus | D'Addario | True bypass1 | Signal buffer, set timer, vertical color display1 |
| Chromatic Pedal Tuner | D'Addario | True bypass3 | A414-A475 calibration via side pitch button2 |
| The GoGo Chromatic Pedal Tuner | Gogo Tuners | True bypass4 | Chromatic pedal tuner13 |
| EHX-2020 Chromatic Tuner Pedal | Electro-Harmonix | True bypass5 | Zero colouration of tone when bypassed, per Guitar.com5 |
Guitar.com, covering the Electro-Harmonix EHX-2020, noted that its true-bypass switching means zero colouration of the guitar's tone when bypassed5, a claim in the same territory as D'Addario's true-bypass wiring on both of its pedal tuners. If you want to compare further, the Tuner Pedals page gathers the wider field, from the Boss TU3 Tuner to the Peterson StroboStomp HD.

Questions
Is the D'Addario Chromatic Pedal Tuner Plus true bypass?
Yes. D'Addario describes the Plus as having true-bypass wiring with an easily accessible foot switch. The standard Chromatic Pedal Tuner is also listed by D'Addario as true bypass, so both versions pass your guitar's signal through untouched when the tuner is switched off.
What is the difference between the D'Addario Chromatic Pedal Tuner and the Plus?
Both are chromatic pedal tuners from D'Addario with a full-color vertical display, fast note detection and true-bypass wiring. The Plus adds a signal buffer and a set timer feature on top of the standard model's feature set. Both carry a 1-Year Limited Warranty.
What is the calibration range of the D'Addario Chromatic Pedal Tuner?
Guitar World's review of the Chromatic Pedal Tuner gives a wide calibration range from A414 to A475, reached through a side-mounted pitch button. That lets you match the tuner to a reference pitch other than standard A440.
Does the D'Addario Chromatic Pedal Tuner Plus have a buffer?
Yes. D'Addario's product page for the Plus lists a signal buffer among its features, alongside the set timer. The buffer can help keep your tone intact over long cable runs when the tuner sits early in a pedal chain.
What warranty does the D'Addario Chromatic Pedal Tuner Plus have?
D'Addario lists a 1-Year Limited Warranty for the Chromatic Pedal Tuner Plus. The standard Chromatic Pedal Tuner carries the same 1-Year Limited Warranty.
