The Donner Arena 2000 is a digital multi-effects floorboard from Donner, introduced in 20221. It packs amp modeling, cabinet simulation, effects, a looper and a drum machine into one unit, and is aimed at players who want a complete rig in a single box: practice with headphones, record over USB, or plug straight into a PA using its XLR outputs.
Donner says the Arena 2000 uses its FVACM (Forward Analog Virtual Circuit Modeling) technology with 24-bit/44.1 kHz audio processing, and claims this "greatly reduce[s] the 'plastic taste' of the digital effect, making the tone more layered"2. It lists at $339.99 USD, with a sale price of $229.99 USD2.
What it does: amp models, effects, IRs, looper and drums
The Arena 2000 offers 278 effect types in total: 100 classic effect simulations, 80 amp simulations and 50 cabinet simulations2. Up to 10 effect blocks can run simultaneously, and the block order is changeable, so you can rearrange the chain the way you would on a pedalboard1.
| Category | Count |
|---|---|
| Classic effect simulations | 1002 |
| Amp models | 802 |
| Cabinet models | 501 |
| Built-in cab IRs | 504 |
| Third-party IR slots | 504 |
| Drum rhythms | 404 |
| Simultaneous blocks | 101 |
The 50 built-in cab IR models are joined by 50 slots for loading third-party IRs, with an IR length of 1024 samples and resolution up to 23.2 ms4. For practice and songwriting, the unit includes a 60-second looper and 40 drum rhythms4.
Donner's amp selection also covers bass: the maker says the 12 amp models include classic bass amps such as the Ampeg SVT and the Fender Bassman, and the pedal has a blend knob for balancing dry and processed signals4. That makes it usable as a bass rig as well as a guitar one.
Controls, presets and expression
Editing happens on the 3.5-inch TFT color screen2. The three built-in footswitches handle preset changes and effect toggling, and two CTRL switches can each be assigned to switch one effect on or off1. The CTRL mode is customizable, with an internal EXP1 expression pedal and support for an external EXP2 expression pedal for real-time parameter adjustments3. Presets are organized as 150 total, in 50 banks of 32.
There is no send/return effects loop1. If you want to insert your own external pedals into the chain, the Arena 2000 does not provide an insert point; external control is limited to MIDI In for switching devices2.
Power and connections
The Arena 2000 runs on a 9V DC supply with a 500mA current draw3. There is no battery compartment2.
At 500mA, this pedal needs a dedicated or high-current output on your power supply. Most small daisy-chain supplies designed for analog pedals will not deliver enough current.
Connections include Guitar In, Aux In, MIDI In, XLR L/R and unbalanced 1/4-inch outputs2. A cab sim output option lets you switch the speaker simulation between the 1/4-inch output and the XLR output, which makes it handy for going direct to a mixer while keeping cab simulation on, or turning it off into a real guitar amp2. USB audio is supported1, and the headphone output impedance is 10 ohms, with Donner recommending headphones in the 32 to 64 ohm range4.
Editing: Bluetooth app and computer software
Donner provides a mobile app for Bluetooth wireless tone editing, plus computer software for tone editing, backup and firmware updates4. The software runs on Windows, Mac, iOS and Android1.
What reviewers said
Performer Mag's Chris Devine reviewed the Arena 2000 in January 2023 and found the factory presets leaned toward heavy styles, though they could be reshaped easily:
"presets certainly favor more hard rock and metal tastes, but with a bit of editing it's easy to generate sounds for pretty much any musical style"5
Donner's Canadian site also notes that Ariyuki Saddler, guitarist for the channel of the same name, toured Europe using the Arena 20006.
Warranty and returns
The Arena 2000 carries a 1-year warranty from Donner's US store2; Donner's German store lists a 30-day return guarantee1, so terms depend on the region of purchase.

Questions
Does the Donner Arena 2000 have an effects loop?
No. Donner's specification lists no send/return loop, so there is no insert point for your own external pedals in the signal chain. Effects are all internal, though the block order can be rearranged and MIDI In accepts external switching devices.
Can you use the Donner Arena 2000 for bass?
Yes. Donner says the 12 amp models include classic bass amps such as the Ampeg SVT and Fender Bassman, and the pedal has a blend knob for balancing dry and processed signals, which bass players often want for keeping low-end definition.
Can the Donner Arena 2000 load third-party IRs?
Yes. It ships with 50 built-in cab IR models and provides 50 slots for loading third-party IRs. IR length is 1024 samples, with resolution up to 23.2 ms, loaded through the editing software.
Does the Donner Arena 2000 run on batteries?
No. It runs on a 9V DC power supply drawing 500mA and has no battery compartment. That current draw also rules out most small daisy-chain supplies, so plan on a dedicated or high-current output.
Can you edit the Arena 2000 over Bluetooth?
Yes. Donner provides a mobile app for Bluetooth wireless tone editing, plus computer software for tone editing, backup and firmware updates. The software runs on Windows, Mac, iOS and Android.
