The Flower Pedals Dahlia is a dual analog delay pedal from Flower Pedals, a boutique US builder1. It packs two fully independent analog BBD delay circuits into one compact enclosure, with true stereo inputs and outputs, and everything runs through an entirely analog signal path with modern digital control2. BBD stands for bucket brigade device, the chip type behind classic analog delays: the signal is passed along a chain of capacitors rather than converted to digital samples, which is what gives analog delays their character.

Each of the two delay engines offers up to 820ms of delay time on the current production model2. The pedal was originally announced toward the end of November 20233, and the current version, V1.5, adds a dry kill control, a sixth preset, and three expression preset slots, up from one on the original V12.

Two independent engines and how they route

The Dahlia's core idea is two separate analog delay circuits in one box. A Control switch lets you adjust Delay 1, Delay 2, or both simultaneously2, so you can dial in two different times and feedback settings and then treat them as one unit or two.

Three routing modes determine how the engines interact2:

ModeWhat it does
StereoEach engine feeds a different output for a wide stereo spread
ParallelBoth engines run side by side on the same signal
SeriesDelay 2 follows Delay 1, stacking the repeats

A Time Lock function ties the engines together, and its Width mode offsets Delay 2 from Delay 1 by a variable amount, which the maker describes as suited to subtle stereo separation2. Modulation is built in, with three LFO wave shapes1. Delicious Audio's guide to the best analog delay pedals called it "an impressive release by a boutique US builder" and noted the three operating modes and three LFO waves1.

Guitar Pedal X's Stefan Karlsson pointed out how rare this configuration is: at launch, the Dahlia and the Walrus Audio Meraki were "one of only 2 full stereo analog delays on the market"5. Full stereo here means both input and output paths are stereo, not just two outputs.

Footswitches, presets and ramping

The Dahlia uses two footswitches: a TAP / RAMP switch and an ON / HOLD switch4. Tap tempo works with selectable divisions2. The switches also handle preset duties: a dual press scrolls through the presets, and a dual-press-hold saves the current settings to a preset3. On the original V1, the five presets were color-coded Red, Green, Blue, Yellow and Pink, plus a Panel position3; V1.5 adds a sixth preset4.

Ramping is where the Dahlia gets expressive. It lets you sweep between your current settings and target settings in real time3:

  • Ramp Speed, set by a secondary function of the Mix knob34
  • Ramp To time, the target delay time3
  • Ramp To feedback, the target feedback level3
  • Ramp footswitch, engaged by holding the Tap switch3

An expression pedal input supports per-parameter heel/toe mapping2, so you can assign any two values of a parameter to the two ends of the pedal's travel. V1.5 holds three expression presets, up from one on the original4. Additional controls and ports include EXP set to TAP or EXP, and input modes for SISO, MISO and MIMO configurations4.

V1.5 was announced on 21 May 2025 and was available for preorder at $4994. It remains a dual-channel stereo analog BBD delay4.

MIDI and connections

MIDI is built in on both versions. The current model uses 3.5mm MIDI in and thru jacks with an integrated optocoupler, so no converter box is needed2. The original carried MIDI In and MIDI Thru as well5. Audio connections are TRS stereo in and TRS stereo out, plus a 1/4" expression/tap jack2.

What reviewers said

Stefan Karlsson of Guitar Pedal X bought one at full price and reviewed it in October 2024. He called it "my favourite compact delay unit to date!"3 His total landed cost in the UK came to $676.25 (£517.45), made up of the $499 price, $44.85 shipping, and £101.31 ($132.40) in UK customs import charges3, a useful data point for US players only in that the $499 list price does not include shipping.

"This is my all time favourite Analog Delay - which happens to be fully Stereo by way of its TRS jacks - thus a better fit for me than my former favourite Boss DM-101 MISO edition."
Stefan Karlsson, Guitar Pedal X, on the Dahlia V1.54

He has repeatedly preferred it over the alternatives. In his 2023 time-based effects roundup he wrote that he preferred it over the Walrus Meraki "for its form factor, greater granularity and lower price overall"5, and in 2025 he still ranked it ahead of the Boss DM-101 and the Walrus Audio Merakis for its compact, pedalboard-friendly format4. Delicious Audio's buying guide highlighted the same qualities: a compact stereo/dual analog delay with three operating modes, three LFO waves, MIDI compatibility and the time lock function1.

Questions

Is the Flower Pedals Dahlia analog or digital?

It is an analog delay. The signal path is fully analog, built on BBD delay chips, with digital circuitry handling the control side: presets, tap tempo, ramping and MIDI2.

Does the Flower Pedals Dahlia work in stereo?

Yes. It has true stereo TRS inputs and outputs and three routing modes: Stereo, Parallel and Series2. At launch it was one of only two full stereo analog delays on the market, alongside the Walrus Audio Meraki5.

Does the Dahlia have MIDI?

Yes. It has 3.5mm MIDI in and thru ports with an integrated optocoupler, so no converter box is needed2.

How many presets does the Dahlia have?

The current V1.5 model has 6 onboard presets, 3 of which can hold expression mappings2. The original V1 had 5 presets and a single expression preset slot34.

How long is the Dahlia's delay time?

Each of the two independent delay engines offers up to 820ms on the current model2. The original version was listed at 60ms to 770ms per side5.

Is the Flower Pedals Dahlia V1.5 fully stereo?

Yes. Guitar Pedal X describes V1.5 as fully stereo by way of its TRS jacks, and it remains a dual-channel stereo analog BBD delay4.
