The GUPtech SUN Douche Neon is a special neon edition of the company's Shut Up Noise (SUN) noise gate, released in October 20251. It is a compact gate built around a single threshold knob, and its defining feature is the wiring flexibility: four jacks let you install the pedal in 2, 3 or 4-wire methods, in front of the amp or in the FX loop1.
Wiring and placement
Most simple gates offer one in and one out. The SUN instead carries four jacks, which GUPtech says lets you "wire the pedal in 2, 3 or 4-wire method"1. In practice that means the pedal can sit directly in front of the amp, or in the FX loop using the key input, which GUPtech describes as giving "even more hum annihilation"1.
The 4-wire method is the standout: GUPtech says you can use it "even if your amp is not equipped with a FX loop," placing the side jacks for detection before noisy pedals and the top jacks after them1. That lets the gate sense the signal earlier in the chain while cutting noise later, on amps where a loop-based hookup would not be possible.
| Wiring method | Where it sits | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| 2-wire | In front of the amp | Straight gate in the guitar chain |
| 3-wire | In the FX loop, key input | Gate in the loop for deeper hum reduction |
| 4-wire | Side jacks before noisy pedals, top jacks after | Detection before the noise, gating after, no FX loop needed |

Controls and power
The SUN "may have only one knob, but is not an easy one to get by," in GUPtech's words: a single threshold control sets the level below which the gate closes1. Power is 9VDC center negative at 38mA, within reach of a standard pedal supply1.
The Douche Neon is a special edition dated October 2025. GUPtech's page does not describe it as a limited run as of October 20261. The standard version of the circuit is covered on the GUP Tech SUN Noise Gate page, and the company has released other SUN editions before, such as the GUPtech SUN Scott Bynoe Edition.
Where it sits among noise gates
The SUN belongs to the same family of pedals as the Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor, the Fortin Amps Fortin Zuul and the ISP Technologies ISP Decimator II, all covered on the Noise Gate Pedals page. What separates the SUN is the four-jack wiring scheme, which few gates in its size class offer, and the one-knob control layout, which keeps operation to setting a threshold. GUPtech also builds the related GUP Tech MWAC Noise Gate and GUP Tech Cool Gate1.
Availability
The pedal is made by GUPtech in Saguenay, Quebec, Canada, where the company says all of its pedals are built1. It carries a list price of £109.00 GBP1. The maker's page shows one review with a 100% five-star rating1.
Questions
What is the difference between the SUN Douche Neon and the standard SUN noise gate?
The Douche Neon is a special neon edition of GUPtech's Shut Up Noise (SUN) noise gate, released in October 2025. The circuit and wiring options are the same: four jacks that let the pedal be wired in 2, 3 or 4-wire methods, in front of the amp or in the FX loop. The difference is the finish, with the Neon edition marked as a special edition on the maker's product page.
Can the GUPtech SUN be used on an amp with no effects loop?
Yes. GUPtech says the SUN can be used in 4-wire mode even if the amp is not equipped with an FX loop, using the side jacks for detection before noisy pedals and the top jacks after them. The pedal can also simply be wired in front of the amp, or in the FX loop using the key input.
What power supply does the SUN Douche Neon need?
The SUN Douche Neon runs on a 9VDC center negative supply and draws 38mA, according to GUPtech's product page. A standard isolated 9V center negative pedal supply covers it.
Is the Neon edition a limited run?
GUPtech's product page marks the Douche Neon as a Special Neon edition, dated October 2025. The page does not describe it as a limited run as of October 2026.
Where is the GUPtech SUN made?
GUPtech states that all of its pedals are made by the company in Saguenay, Quebec, Canada. The shop at 6182 Boulevard Talbot in Saguenay also offers local pickup, usually ready within 24 hours.
