The Little Gazer is a reverb pedal from Hungry Robot, currently offered through the maker's Classics line as a reissue of a discontinued model. It shares the same internal circuitry as its dual-channel sibling, The Stargazer, just in a single channel format1. Hungry Robot describes its tone as "musical," and says the pedal does not attempt to emulate a specific reverb type1.

What it does

Beyond traditional reverb sounds, Hungry Robot says The Little Gazer "is capable of creating a deep, self-oscillating wash," which puts it in territory ambient and shoegaze players often look for: push the pedal and the reverb swells into an uncontrolled wash rather than simply decaying1.

The pedal's other signature feature is the SPARKLE switch. According to the maker, it "adds a sparkly overtone to the wet reverb signal to give it a 'shimmery' quality," and it does so without pitch shifting, so the shimmer comes from added overtone content rather than a shifted copy of the note1.

The Classics reissue

The Little Gazer is a reverb that, according to Hungry Robot, "does not attempt to emulate a specific reverb type." The maker instead points to its tone, saying "The best term to describe the tone of The Little Gazer is 'musical.'" Its one voicing control is the "SPARKLE" switch, which adds a sparkly overtone to the wet reverb signal to give it a "shimmery" quality without pitch shifting1.

The Little Gazer is a reissue of a discontinued model, sold direct from Hungry Robot and built to order one at a time1.

The Stargazer family

The Little Gazer sits in a family of Hungry Robot reverbs that has grown around the original Stargazer circuit:

  • Effect type: reverb, and not an emulation of any one reverb type1
  • Tone: described by the maker as "musical"1
  • Voicing: a "SPARKLE" switch that adds a sparkly overtone to the wet reverb signal for a "shimmery" quality without pitch shifting1

Questions

Is The Little Gazer still in production?

Hungry Robot reissued The Little Gazer through its Classics line, announced on the maker's 10 year anniversary in 2022. Classics pedals are direct-only offerings, built one-by-one as orders come in, so the pedal is available from Hungry Robot itself rather than through dealers. The Classics program brings back older discontinued models, which means The Little Gazer was out of production before the reissue.

How is The Little Gazer different from The Stargazer?

The Little Gazer shares the same internal circuitry as its dual-channel sibling The Stargazer, just in a single channel format. The Stargazer has since been developed further, with a V2 in 2018 and a Stereo Edition in 2026 that adds trails, wet/dry blend and full stereo processing. The Little Gazer remains the single-channel take on the original circuit.
